ImmunityBio (formerly NantCell) develops novel combinations of chemo-immune sensitizers, cell therapies, cytokines, vaccines, neoepitopes, and monoclonal antibody immunotherapies to orchestrate the NK and T Cell response for cancer and infectious diseases.

Research Associate, Cell Line Development

POSITION SUMMARY

ImmunityBio seeks a highly motivated, full-time Research Associate to work in our cell line development group. The group's responsibility is to take novel cancer therapeutics (mAbs/fusion proteins) from the R&D group and create a stable therapeutic production process to handoff to PD and manufacturing. The ideal candidate should possess a bachelor's degree in science or engineering, exceptional verbal and written communication skills, good work habits, and willingness to work as part of a team.  Experience working in a wet lab environment outside of a classroom is strongly preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


  • Generation and maintenance of mammalian production cell lines for preclinical development from shake flask scale to bioreactor systems

  • Perform routine expression studies to evaluate protein production and cell viability

  • Characterization of the cell line (analytical assays for impurities/cell line stability)

  • Communicate results through the supervisor and written documentation. Will present results in group meetings.

  • Maintenance of laboratory equipment and stock supplies

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS


  • Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Life Science or another related discipline

  • 1 - 3 years of industry experience or knowledge and experience in suspension culture of mammalian cell lines, as well as cell culture characterization

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES – KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES


  • Skill in the application of sterile techniques. 

  • Working knowledge of laboratory practices, procedures, and terminology.

  • Skilled in the application of sterile techniques and working knowledge of safe and aseptic techniques for working with hazardous biological or chemical materials. 

  • Ability to comprehend and follow references, manuals, and guides related to work.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (eg, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and use of web sites for ordering and maintaining inventory.

  • Problem-solving and critical thinking skills are a necessity.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


  • Working environment is within an approximately 2,000 square foot space with equipment sufficient to compete with the tasks described above.

  • Daily:  Lifting and transporting mammalian bioreactors.

  • Occasionally:  Transporting small equipment required
