About This Position
This position is responsible to function as a member of a work team to produce various Rough Machined forgings to Customer's specifications. Performs all functions within the Cell including lathes, mills, saws and other equipment.

What You'll Do:


  1. Verifies sizes of parts, and ensures parts will meet the customer's requirements by properly performing layout operations. Completes non-conforming material reports (NCM) when necessary.

  2. Loads and unloads machines with aid of overhead crane. Operates machine and material handling equipment with care to avoid damage. Utilizes a variety of below hook lifting devices as appropriate for the part/task.

  3. Assumes ownership of the part once cutting begins.

  4. Sets up and operates machines to perform required operations. Selects, installs and changes tooling as required to maintain cut quality.

  5. Sets up and operate saw/lathe/mill/core tester etc. selecting proper feeds and speeds. For mills, adjusts speeds and feeds in accordance with the milling calculator to maximize chip removal rate and carbide life. Adjusts saw feeds and speeds per the charts and as per the procedure for blade "break-in." Maintains spare cutter(s) ready to install.

  6. Performs preliminary Equi-tip tests and final Brinell hardness tests as required.

  7. Performs final dimensional inspection of product and completes dimensional sketch as required.

  8. Performs final saw cuts to length tolerance.

  1. A High School Diploma/GED.

  2. A problem-solving mentality and high level of attentiveness.

  3. A clean criminal background investigation.

  4. A clean urine and hair follicle drug screening, performed upon offer of employment.

  5. A strong work ethic.

  6. A willingness to learn.

  7. A commitment to safety.

  8. Vocational school training, related on-the-job machining experience, or a technical associate's degree preferred.
