Danone North America is looking for a Quality Assurance Technician in our Springfield, Oregon manufacturing facility. The Quality Assurance Technician position supports the quality control functions of the Danone--So Delicious Dairy Free factory.

Essential Functions:

* Conduct post cleaning and pre-op inspections

* Conduct allergen test for cleaning verification for equipment and tools

* Analyze mix samples for solid and pH

* Conduct allergen and micro testing and swabbing for cleaning verification for equipment and tools

* Conduct micro testing of post pasteurized mixed after HTST and in PT tanks

* Approve mixes for lines startup

* Ingredients and packaging verification at start up and throughout the production runs

* Allergen testing of extruder head and finished good samples

* Conduct microbiology of finished goods samples and plant 3 samples and R&D samples

* Conduct hourly metal detector checks

* Collect and evaluate retention samples

* Calibrate equipment

* Issue material and finished product non-conformance hold, release and destruction

* Sample request for product evaluation

* Assist in quality assurance data management. Database Maintenance

* Conduct line checks and startups

* Stocking and inventory of lab supplies

* 5S the lab

* Participate in FM and food safety or quality incidents investigations

* Ensure GMP and GLP compliance

* Documents review

* Builds and maintains relationships

* Promotes a positive team atmosphere and champions involvement of all employees

* Complies with all safety regulations to help ensure a safe working environment, while assisting department

Education and Experience:

* Bachelor s Degree in Food Science, Bio Chemistry or related field

* Knowledge of Laboratory practices and procedures

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

* Knowledge of Quality Assurance Programs.

* Good verbal and written communication, presentation, organizing, prioritizing and implementation skills.

* Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and coordinate efforts around process improvement.

* Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines within specified time constraints.

* Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel at an intermediate level.

* Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

* Must have strong organizational, planning and problem-solving skills.

* Must be able to multitask in a fast-paced production environment.

Physical Demands:

Wear personal protective equipment daily; continuously reach, push/pull; frequently twist; occasionally stoop/bend; intermittently crouch, climb, and balance; use hands for repetitive fine manipulation, pushing and pulling, and simple grasp; and talk and hear under noisy conditions. Visual acuity and taste to discern product variation.

Working conditions frequently includes a cool indoor food production environment and occasional freezer environment, and intermittent outdoor environment. Clean environment, requiring hand washing every time you go on the floor 20+/- times a day.
