TMC/UH Lakewood is located between Kansas City and Lee's Summit, Missouri, offering residents of Eastern Jackson County access to a modern community hospital with a continuum of outpatient services designed to meet the needs of families. TMC/UH Lakewood specializes in high-risk maternal and child care, and serves as one of the few Kansas City metro area institutions accredited by The Joint Commission in Orthopedics and Palliative Care. It also is home to a 188-bed, fully accredited long-term care center.

TMC/UH Behavioral Health is the KC metro area's largest, most comprehensive provider of mental health services. The Healing Canvas Building, located in Kansas City's vibrant Crossroads Arts District, is its epicenter, providing a broad list of outpatient services. We also offer psychiatric inpatient care, and we deliver therapeutic services through our community outreach clinics. We are a leader in the Trauma-Informed Care Movement, and provide training, coaching and consulting to outside organizations.

The Epidemiology Specialist is responsible for the development of intervention strategies resulting from epidemiologic studies. This position will design and conduct studies to identify opportunities for interventions. The Epidemiology Specialist, as the subject matter expert in Epidemiology, engages in the investigation, analysis, prevention, and control of injuries, communicable, chronic, or environmentally induced diseases.

Required Experience

Required Experience:

- Bachelor's degree from a four year college or university in public health, nursing, epidemiology, or other closely related field

- Comprehensive knowledge of epidemiologic principles and techniques related to the surveillance, investigation, and control of communicable diseases and outbreak investigations

- Knowledge of principles of community-level public health emergency preparedness and Incident Command System (ICS)

- Ability to research, compile and summarize a variety of data and materials

- Skilled in methods and techniques of research, statistical analysis and report presentation

- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference

- Excellent oral and written communications skills; ability to present information to large audiences

- Skilled in the use of word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentation software

- Ability to organize work, set priorities, meet critical deadlines and follow up on assignments with a minimal amount of direction

Preferred Experience:

- Master's degree in public health, epidemiology, or other closely related field

- Two years of progressive knowledge and experience in the principles, techniques, and application of epidemiology

- Knowledge and experience working with data analysis software (SAS, SPSS, STATA, R)
