MEDICAL CITY MCKINNEY (MCM) is a growing 260-bed hospital with a 90-year history of serving the health care needs of McKinney and the surrounding communities. Over the past several years, MCM has strengthened its medical foundations by adding two new surgical robots, a newly remodeled labor and delivery suites, a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and an advanced biplane Catheterization (cath) lab to treat heart rhythm disorders. Medical City McKinney will be expanding its services to the community with the addition of a new off-campus emergency department at 380 & Custer in 2015.

The UNIT SECRETARY in the Emergency Department is responsible for clerical duties required to maintain the supporting office of the Director of Emergency Services and the Emergency Department. Performs order entry, transcribes orders, maintains daily physician call sheet, answers multi-line phones, pages physicians, and maintains EMTALA log.
May work with Nurse Manager or designee to facilitate patient flow by maintaining ED medical record for completeness and ensuring that ED software for patient tracking is updated. Also, ensures clerical equipment (copiers/printers/fax machines) is in working condition.

Supports and promotes an environment that is conducive to quality customer service.

QUALIFICATIONS

* High School graduate or equivalent
* Reasoning, mathematical and language skills at a Level 3.
* Knowledge of medical terminology required
* Organizational and time management skills required
* Computer skills required with transcription orders
* Able to use a multiline phone system
* Professional behavior and appearance
* Strong customer service skills
