Staff TechnicianReporting to: Non-Woven's Product Development Team Leader or Senior Chemist
Job dimensions
- Project Support: Coordinate and execute all laboratory tests as required; communicate needed data and analysis in clear, concise report, presentation, and other forms (guidance provided by supervisor as needed)
- Continuous Improvement: Continuously building the skills to conduct and complete small scale projects, specifically flex formulas, product tweaks, regional offsets, and reformulation; basic understanding of raw material characteristics
Activities
- Project Support: Support the project goals of supervisor's projects, but also be able to work independently to coordinate and execute physical property and performance testing on a wide variety of samples. Support other associates' projects as needed. Able to plan, set up, and conduct controlled experiments and trials utilizing proper procedures.
- Data analysis: Interpret analytical and physical testing results in order to make recommendations with assistance from a chemist/supervisor. Use statistical analysis to support technical recommendations
- Laboratory Maintenance: Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventative maintenance; calling for repairs; calibration and verification as required by ISO
- Operations Support: Lead or support quality investigations (CIOs, NCMRs), identify improvement opportunities
- Reporting: Compile data in an organized manner and summarize results in a clear, concise report according to established format to meet internal or customer expectations
- Training: Develop and provide training modules both internally & externally. Participate in onboarding of new associates
- Systems and procedures: Comply 100% with EHS and Quality management system policies and requirements. Develop and maintain new test procedures.
- Raw Materials: Building and establish a fundamental working knowledge of raw materials and their cause and effect interactions
- Safety: Must maintain good laboratory housekeeping and safety practicesContext and environment
- The role requires the ability to coordinate/support multiple projects at once and quickly adapt to change

Accountabilities
- Primarily accountable for timely completion and delivery of top quality lab testing and reports, including building necessary data sets
- Ensure daily activities in compliance with EHS and operational requirements
Qualifications / experience required
- Associates Degree in Chemical Technology or related scientific field preferred
- Background in adhesives testing preferred
- Good problem solving skills. Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage small scale projects simultaneously as well as analyze and interpret results
- Ability to identify continuous improvement opportunities and propose solutions
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Project, JMP)
