About this role

  • Improve Efficiency via Rapid Replication of Leading Practice: Engage leading performers to define and detail leading practices globally. High emotional intelligence, difficulty and subject area will be critical to success given the global scale of engagement. Once the critical elements of leading practice are decided, drive a cross functional team to map out leading practice and set the leading practice requirements for operations globally. Once complete, coordinate the syndication of leading practice requirements globally and support sites in their implementation. Each leading practice will require a strong value proposition in order to achieve site consensus and accelerate implementation at sites globally.

  • Own the Rapid Replication Pipeline: Analyze data clarify the drivers of productivity and replication results; what is driving variation in performance between sites globally? What technology, processes or procedures are performance leaders demonstrating to achieve consistent success? How do leading practices drive value? What trends are present within the company’s various data sources (i.e. productivity data, site control system information, active and historical Full Potential initiatives, etc.)? Using a large set of analytical tools such as Pareto and variation analysis, value driver trees, hypothesis testing, correlation, etc. will be critical to success. Regular prioritization of opportunities will support leadership decision of which leading practices to replicate next.

  • Drive Rapid Replication Culture Change Build & maintain comprehensive understanding of the major activities, breakthroughs, and success stories globally. Collaborate with and enable/encourage collaboration between SME’s, operations teams, leadership and other key business functions. Collaborate with corporate Investor Relations, internal and external communication teams and the COO Chief of Staff to keep them advised of productivity and replication successes adding new value for Newmont’s partners. Additionally, demonstrate the company’s various communication platforms (i.e. Yammer, Prospector, etc.) to generate momentum for Productivity & Replication.

  • Support Business Improvement Projects & Programs: Be an active participant in all aspects of Business Improvement projects and programs including Full Potential Community of Practice, driving value, project management and many other aspects of Business Improvement at Newmont.

Your role will consist of

Project management of the development of leading practice playbooks to be replicated throughout Newmont’s global business; Requires leading a lean cross functional team to rapidly scope, outline and produce Leading Practice Playbooks (30%)

Drive Replication culture change via the deployment and sustainment of strong systems, tools and behaviors throughout Newmont’s Global Business. Includes reporting, branding, talking points, internal media presence, etc (25%)

Project Management of Business Improvement projects as they arise (25%)

Lead development of change enablement materials as required (10%)

Coordinate and support Productivity Tables and Replication meeting materials and administration (5%)

Build relationship of trust with OT&BI team members, sites, business functions and other stakeholders (5%)

Your training, skills, and experience checklist

A bachelors’ degree in business, engineering or a related field is required. Prior experience of at least 10 years (5 years with master’s degree) in heavy industry. In addition to excellent research and presentation skills, success in this role will require a strong analytical, critical thinking, collaboration and leadership skill set.

Knowledge of mining, business improvement and/or commercial communication, operations and administration practices

Presentation proficiency to clearly communicate to all levels of the business

Proficiency with the Microsoft suite of products including Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, Project & Visio

At least 10 years relevant operations experience in mining operations, utilities or other heavy industry is preferred (5 years with Master’s degree)

At least 2 years in role(s) requiring heavy collaboration, communication and change management

Validated project management skills and experience

Proven leadership potential

Task oriented and results driven with high leadership skills, Demonstrated strong emotional intelligence, verbal and written communication skills, Demonstrated ability to think critically and progress up learning curves quickly and efficiently, Demonstrated ability to think commercially and transition abstract concepts into discrete outputs, The capacity to develop and maintain effective relationships at various levels within the business, Ability to collaborate with technical specialists, operations, and finance personnel, Presentation skills to build momentum, drive progress and business transparency, Ability to communicate clearly and concisely to all levels of the organization , Ability to demonstrate change management and communication resources to support objectives, Proactivity resulting in early identification, diagnosis and management of risk and opportunity, The ability to work flexibly to meet frequent out of normal office hour requirements to lead collaboration across the geographic spread of Newmont’s global business.


Working conditions and location

  • The position is located in the Denver, Colorado, US

  • National & international travel to support Newmont’s global operations (~30%) may be required

  • Flexible hours to accommodate global time zone spread will be required

  • Willingness to flex working time to align with priorities will be required

The salary range offered for this role is $$110,960 to $145,635. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience.  The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.   

This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance.
