As part of a highly collaborative, consultative and ambitious operations team, you’ll assist the Payroll SDM with oversight of outsourced services provided by our payroll vendor.
Your Team

The HR Operations team is seeking an Assistant Payroll Service Delivery Manager (SDM) for the Human Resources Service Delivery Team. You’ll work with key stakeholders at Prudential and the Payroll service provider. Responsibilities will include monitoring the effectiveness of the service provider controls and service levels. You’ll also be accountable for leveraging your day-to-day experience to enhance processes and continuously evolve the customer experience.

Your Role


Vendor Monitoring – You will collaborate with team members and various business partners to ensure that the Payroll provider processes are executed in an effective and controlled manner. This includes:
o Reviewing Payroll weekly control reports
o Managing SDM task resulting from the weekly Payroll meetings
o Managing SDM task resulting from the Payroll Year End and Compensation Year End Projects
o Assist with the preparation of the annual Sarbanes Oxley documentation
Oversight of Services Provided by Vendor – You will ensure specific Payroll Services are delivered in accordance with the agreed standards. Managing and overseeing the resolution of Payroll Service Issues. This includes:
o Managing escalated issues from HR Business Partners and employees through resolution.
o Participate in Payroll Calibration meetings, providing feedback to our service provider on Prudential’s policies.
o Identify, evaluate Payroll best practices and process improvements to share with the service provider.
o Attend Payroll Site visits with the Payroll SDM to test and review the effectiveness of the procedures and controls of the service provider.
Additional Core Service Delivery Responsibilities – You will perform additional activities to help support oversight of the Service provider and deliver high quality service to our internal Prudential customers. This includes:
o Security Recertification
o Identify and manage Payroll SDM recertification schedule
o Confirm user roles and access to systems and applications
o Prepare recertification results for Payroll SDM to review, approve and signoff.
o Assist with Employee Payroll Tax escalations
o Assist with managing monthly and Quarterly Accounting Reviews and Sign off
o Payroll Services mailbox
o Monitor mailbox daily and respond to inquiries. Redirect sender to the appropriate contacts.
o Send Payroll communications resulting from a Payroll initiative or issue. As a result, track responses and inquiries.
o Review People Central Payroll content for updates.
o Participate in Business Continuation Testing (as required). Testing may include a Hot Site visit, Alight and various business partners




Your Expertise

What you’ll need to succeed:


• BA/BS in Management from an accredited college/university preferred, not required
• Minimum 5 or more years of Payroll experience working for a large organization or multi-state employer
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong knowledge of MS Office
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and within a team; strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
• Ability to take the initiative to drive results; strong execution-mindset
• Able to multi-task and absorb information
• Ability to be organized, flexible, prioritize tasks and work in a deadline-oriented environment
• Project management experience
• Embraces process evolution, efficiency, technology & automation
• General understanding of operational metrics and risk management
• Global Payroll experience a plus but not required
• Payroll Tax or Payroll Accounting knowledge
• Strong knowledge of Workday preferred
• Knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley Controls
