Job Description:

Resp & Qualifications

PURPOSE: Installs, maintains, repairs and performs all maintenance and electrical system activities to ensure the operations efficiency and optimum productivity throughout all operated buildings of CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: Include, but are not limited to, the following:

Duties and Responsibilities

* Performs routine and urgent maintenance responsibilities at assigned location and provides additional support at other locations as needed. Responds to a wide range of service requests by performing a variety of installation, maintenance, repair and fabrication tasks to satisfy the organizational customer. This normally requires the duties of electrical, mechanical, carpentry, plumbing, drywalling, painting and locksmithing.
* Performs troubleshooting and repairs of electrical, mechanical and plumbing of equipment necessary to the operation of buildings. Oversee individual contractors and to ensure the safe and efficient use by the Associates of CareFirst. Activities performed may include but are not limited to Communication and power circuits, selective vertical mail conveyor, kitchen appliances, distribution apparatus, subpanels, transformers, high voltage equipment, hazardous materials, extreme heat and cold, and the use of protective equipment and clothing, conforming to all BOCA, NFPA, OSHA, NEC, County, State and Federal Building Codes and laws.
* Conducts walkthrough inspections and documents all deficiencies found. Completes forms, and utilizes the personal computer to ensure efficiency, safe operations and occupancy by the Associates of CareFirst. Performs routine maintenance as deficiencies are found.
* Interacts with landlord, property management companies or contractors to schedule and/or request building repairs and maintenance.
* Participates in on-call program for after-hours security and fire alarms and maintenance calls.

Required Experience/Skills/Abilities

* Driver's license* - Must be able to travel to and from different locations and supply houses, occasionally using personal vehicle when company vehicle is unavailable.

*As such, the incumbent is required to maintain a driving record as follows:

* Possess a valid driver's license for the class of vehicle being operated;
* A driver's record with no more than 4 current points; and
* No convictions for alcohol or drug related violations within the last three (3) years.
* Thorough knowledge of national electrical code, NFPA, OSHA and trade standards.
* 3-5 years of experience in the electrical field and duties.
* 2-3 years of experience in the mechanical field.
* Minimum of 2-3 years experience in plumbing, carpentry, drywalling and painting.
* Experience in HVAC, Pneumatics, Refrigeration, Locksmithing, Fabricating.
* Ability to comprehend Architectural, Plumbing, Mechanical and Electric blueprints.
* Computer skills including excel spreadsheets.
* Ability to use a computer for maintaining records and looking up files.
* Ability to deal cooperatively and effectively with managers, employees and directors on basic exchange of information, scheduling regarding maintenance and repair jobs, "negotiating" job priorities and differences that may arise while responding to management and employee "customers", requests for service.
* Good oral and written skills to interact with management and employees throughout the organization, prepare reports, etc.
