Our client conducts quantum information science research from a shared foundation of outstanding fabrication facilities, well-equipped measurement laboratories, and innovative control signal technologies. The client has a broad range of experimental and prototyping activities. The client's quantum information science activities include development of superconducting and trapped-ion qubits and quantum sensing with NV-centers in Diamond. In addition, the group has robust capabilities in classical superconducting circuits, CMOS design and fabrication, and integrated photonics. These component technologies are used in synergy with quantum information science demonstrations as well as in stand-alone applications that include beyond CMOS circuit technologies, compact optical communication and laser radar transceivers, and microwave photonic signal processing.

The client is seeking a CMOS process engineer to develop deep-submicron silicon CMOS technology. This individual will work with a team of process engineers in the client laboratory's Class 10 clean room to improve device performance, yield, and reliability for a range of technology spanning extremely low power to very high-speed circuits.

The candidate will be responsible for specific process modules but is expected to grow into a role of having originator responsibility for full-flow CMOS runs.
Responsibilities include:

- Initiating and managing short-loop and full-flow CMOS lots

- Evaluating electrical test data

- Developing quality and performance metrics

- Developing action plans to reduce defects.


- Must be a U.S. citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance

- MS plus 3 years minimum experience, or BS plus 5 years minimum experience

- A thorough understanding of the CMOS process flow

- Demonstrated hands-on experience in the development of multiple process modules

- Demonstrated ability to plan rigorous experiments, and respond to rapidly-shifting priorities

- Experience in developing and maintaining CMOS fabrication lots

- Effective communication with technical staff and technicians within and outside the field of specialization


- Experience with statistically-designed experiments and analysis (DOE)

- Experience with transistor design

- Experience with analysis of test data

- Specific experience with CMOS fabrication at the 90nm, 65nm and 45-nm technology nodes

- Experience with both FEOL and BEOL

- Experience with advanced lithography and patterning techniques

- Experience with yield improvement and defect reduction

- Understanding of semiconductor device physics


- Location: Lexington, MA

- Travel: Infrequent, approximately once every 4-6 months for a period of 1-2 days
