Your Opportunity

We have an immediate opening within our Water practice in the Chicago market for a Senior Project Manager/Team Lead experienced with managing clients and leading a team of design and delivery professionals on the planning, development, design and construction administration/management of environmental, infrastructure, and capital improvement projects in water, wastewater, and stormwater management. This position will be based out of our Chicago office. Typical assignments/projects include assessment and design of water and wastewater treatment facilities, plan/design water distribution and storage systems, sanitary collection facilities, technical reports development to document analyses and designs, manage clients, internal task assignments, project financial management, and client business development.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Develops goals, objectives and project management plan for unique and complex programs/major projects of major financial impact.
  • Implements and delivers on Operating Unit strategic objectives.
  • Responsible for successfully establishing programs/major projects to achieve budget, schedule, and contractual obligations. Lead and manage preparation of documents including construction plans, specifications, opinions of probable construction cost, etc.
  • Assist with and lead business development activities and qualifications and proposal submittals including due diligence, positioning, proposal preparation and interviews.
  • Assist with Marketing activities and initiatives to establish market presence, brand recognition, and a local network.
  • Undertakes decisions and recommendations governed by general policy and project management governance.
  • Assists Project Managers in resolving complex problems and decision making.
  • Account management responsibilities and Client development.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and oversight of team members and their work; coaches and mentors staff, provides in-depth technical knowledge as needed.
  • Fosters opportunities to collaborate across business lines and geographies.
  • Lead and manage preparation of documents including construction plans, specifications, opinions of probable construction cost, etc.
  • Staff Management; provide immediate supervision and guidance to a unit or group of employees, assigning tasks, reviewing work at frequent intervals for accuracy and completeness, and maintaining schedules.
  • Interface directly with clients and manage all aspects of projects to meet contractual obligations, budgets, and schedules.
  • Project quality assurance | quality control.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Preferred proficiency of Civil 3D, and HydroCAD software.
  • Ability to work and excel in a demanding fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET accredited program in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or related degree. Master of Science degree preferred.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Illionois.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in the water industry.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience successfully managing projects as Project Manager.
  • A valid driver's license and safe driving record.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of wastewater and water treatment technologies, Water distribution, SSES work, and general knowledge of Program Management and construction management.
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple projects/clients on a daily basis.
  • Extended hours and overnight travel as needed to meet project/client's needs.
  • Must be able to work on construction sites as needed to manage projects. This may entail working in all weather conditions and/or on uneven terrain.
