We are looking for a Territory Sales Manager who will join our Northeast U.S. (Maine, Massachusetts area) hydroponics business.
This position is responsible for marketing Hawthorne products, building business relationships, increasing product sales, and hands on training and developing retailer and distributor product knowledge through store visits and customer interface.
What you'll do in this role:
During store visits, evaluate and dissect total revenue and sq. footage and determine and implement strategies for promotional and marketing needs that strategically brands and markets Hawthorne products in the Northwestern US territory
Evaluate and recommend implementation of, and/or changes to, customers' product displays to ensure optimal product placement; markets and promotes Hawthorne by providing samples, demo systems, displays, marketing material, and branding materials
Professionally represent Hawthorne at trade shows, retailer customer appreciation days, new store openings, and music festivals
Observe industry indicators, communicate trends, and recommend new product ideas and marketing strategies to management through weekly reports, direct phone calls, and scheduled sales meetings
Evaluate customers' Hawthorne product knowledge, determines need for and creates training action plans, and provides specialized training lessons to customers' employees on product usage, dosage rates, potential profit margins, and product benefits in relation to competitors.
Develop training programs on product usage, dosage rates, potential profit margins, and product benefits in relation to competitors.
Communicate directly with retailers regarding the company and associated product lines, industry trends, product and price changes, registration status, pending new orders, and promotions.
Provide customer service to retailers and end users; troubleshoots and resolves product issues, responds to general and technical product questions.
Compose product information to market company and product lines on social networks, blogs, and forums
Recommend and implements marketing and product change requests; evaluates, strategies, and recommends product changes.
What you'll need to be successful:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration
Minimum of 3 years in B2B sales or 3+ years of hydroponic industry sales
Knowledge of hydroponic gardening
Savviness with various social media marketing avenues
Strong relationship building skills
Solid knowledge of different database systems (i.e. Goldmine, MAS CRM, Microsoft Access, etc.)
Valid driver's license with clean driving record
Ability to travel 50-75% of the time
