This position is responsible for assisting the Lead Technician in the set up and operation of vinyl extruders.
Assist Lead Technician by setting up machines to minimize downtime
Monitor quality of product by performing random quality checks
Monitor and changes machine components as needed
Load and unload to optimize machine efficiency for operations
Adjust feed rates, cooling temperatures and pull speeds to produce product that meets tolerances and specifications
Review shop orders and drawings to determine job specifications and requirements
Utilize resources to perform extrusion process functions in a safe manner
Use forklift to load and unload material
Perform any additional duties that are assigned by the Manager/Supervisor/Lead
Knowledge/skill set or ability to learn how to set-up and run vinyl extruders
Must be able to read calipers and tape measure indicators and be able to learn all other special tools of the department
Should be able to learn to understand machine controlling criteria, such as screw speeds, puller speeds, zone temperatures, and cooling/shaping techniques
Ability to detect changes relevant to area of responsibility and able to react
Have organization skills in order to prioritize work assignments to ensure efficient operations of team and machining environment
Able to communicate in a clear and concise manner to achieve intended objective
Read fabrication drawings
Able to write and do basic math
Punctual and excellent attendance
Must be able to work 1st shift, with periods of required overtime
Regular and predictable attendance, ability to safely perform tasks, and adherence to all safety policies and procedures are essential functions of your job
Stand and walk for entire shift on concrete, up to 10-12 hours
Stand, stoop, bend twist or sit for long periods of time
Grasp, squeeze, hold/handle thin to thick metal, hand/power tools, small parts & large items
Reach, handle, grasp & turn and lift using upper body while moving
Lift, push, pull or move up to 50 lbs. while changing dies and bending material
Visual acuity to conduct daily and weekly inspections on the press
Transporting materials to the extruder and other departments as required
Proper wear of all required Personal Protective Equipment
Work in temperatures consistent with same outdoor climate conditions of the region (Heat, humidity, etc.)
