Alabama Clinical Schools (ACS) is an 80-bed Joint Commission accredited facility in the Birmingham area, providing a therapeutic milieu for males with psychiatric issues and/or sexually abusive behaviors. Treatment is based upon the individual needs of each youth. Alabama Clinical Schools has been a trusted behavioral healthcare provider in the Birmingham area for over 20 years. Our treatment services range from Intensive Residential Treatment for males ages 9-18, to Therapeutic Foster Care for males and females of all ages. Our RISE and Specialized Therapeutic Foster Care Programs for boys are the only programs of their kind in the state of Alabama.

We are currently seeking an energetic and dynamic Registered Nurse to join our team at Alabama Clinical Schools.
The role of the Registered Nurse at ACS is vital. RNs at ACS act as an essential member of the interdisciplinary treatment team by providing age appropriate nursing intervention, completing nursing progress notes and nursing admissions assessments, medication administration and management, providing health education to patients and families, and preparing patients for discharge, while maintaining the patient s safety and using age appropriate communication and interventions.
Hours for this position Friday, Saturday, Sunday.
::Graduation from an accredited RN nursing program. Licensed by the Alabama Board of Nursing.
* One year psychiatric nursing experience preferred * Knowledge of nursing practices and procedures * Knowledge of appropriate nursing assessment, diagnosis, treatment, planning intervention and evaluation of psychiatric patients * Ability to administer medication/treatments and monitor for effectiveness and side effects * Skills in developing therapeutic relationship with children and adolescents * Skills in preparing and maintaining appropriate medical record documentation * Ability to provide education to patients and families/legal guardians about their health needs * Good oral and written communication including verbal de-escalation techniques * Ability to plan, organize and conduct patient care processes in a timely manner * Ability to safely perform physical management techniques and crisis intervention * Must successfully pass background screen (includes criminal history, Child Abuse and Neglect Registry, and ABI/FBI fingerprint check) and drug testing * Must be reliable, following through on assignments * Schedule Flexible scheduling, day and evening shifts with weekend rotations * ****$5000 Sign-On Bonus * **** Annual Retention Bonus
