Come join our Pharmacy team!! We have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician Supervisor in our Newton Wellesley Hospital campus. This individual is responsible for supervising and coordinating activities for all Pharmacy Technicians who will assist the Pharmacists in the daily process of providing Pharmaceutical Services to patients.
The ideal candidate will focus on the following key areas:
Directly responsible for the management of Pharmacy Technicians including, hiring, orientation, performance appraisals, oversee technician schedule and maintaining payroll records and time reports in collaboration with timekeeper.
Conduct technician meetings to assure staff are appropriately briefed on departmental and hospital-wide updates and communications.
Manage daily operations of technician-related Pharmacy services, including developing, updating, and reviewing Standard Operating Procedures for all technician duties.
The ideal candidate will have the following expertise:
EDUCATION: Bachelor of Science in related discipline strongly preferred, alternatively Associates Degree with a minimum 2 years CPhT experience in an acute care setting, or High School Diploma with a minimum 6 years CPhT experience in an acute care setting.
Familiarity with medical/drug terminology and abbreviations.
Demonstrated ability to walk and stand 70% of the time and to lift up to 35 pounds
Must be except or PCTB certified, or a registered pharmacy intern with the state of Massachusetts
Must be Registered with the Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician
Excellent communication and computer skills
Proficient with standard PC software, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint required, Access and Visio preferred.
Working knowledge of automated dispensing machine (ADM) systems (e.g. Omnicell, Pyxis, or similar), computerized provider order entry (POE) systems, medication management systems (e.g. Epic Willow, WorkflowRx, or similar), and electronic medication administration record software (e.g. eMAR or similar).
Demonstrates effective interpersonal and organizational skills
Performs professionally and courteously, and maintains excellent working relationships with all personnel
Numeracy: must be comfortable aggregating and reporting numbers, data, and analytics.
Problem-solving: must be capable of drawing conclusions and formulating actionable plans based upon a synthesis of quantitative and qualitative data.
Interpersonal skills: must communicate effectively with Pharmacy and Nursing leadership.
Independent decision-making: must be self-supervised and motivated.
Job knowledge: must have a comprehensive understanding of TJC, state and federal regulations
Flexibility: must be capable of managing several priorities and deadlines simultaneously
