Position Summary:

The Manager of Finance has responsibility for supporting close, forecasting, and other cycle deliverables of the Enterprise FP&A finance organization. The position requires strong technical, analytical, communication and presentation skills and close collaboration with functions and regions across the company is critical to the candidate's success.

Responsibilities:


  • Provide financial modeling, analytics, and general internal support to Enterprise FP&A for presentation to the CFO, CEO, and company leadership

  • Support monthly/quarterly close process, as well as preparation for Quarterly Executive Reviews and Dashboard reviews

  • Coordinate other processes to consolidate and report on variances and trends, calling out business risks/gaps to Senior Management

  • Create regular packages to be utilized for financial management reporting, including variance explanations, forecast updates, scenario building and other analysis

  • Develop and implement new processes, tools and ideas to further enhance the revenue forecasting and analytic capabilities of the finance function

  • Communicate process, template and timeline requirements for Enterprise FP&A deliverables

  • Analyze, synthesize and translate data into key strategic inputs and insights that will drive strategic decision making at the executive level

  • Liaison with the Financial Performance Management (business systems) team to develop tools to support revenue, and act as a functional expert on various Illumina financial and other key systems

  • Gain a thorough understanding of the business segments, products and KPIs to provide support and reporting capabilities, as well as improved business decisions

  • Effectively work across the Illumina finance team to ensure everyone is working towards common goals and leveraging common finance services across the team (i.e. FP&A, Accounting, BI) to improve productivity

  • Acquire intense understanding of Illumina’s business today, and critical insights into where it is going in the future allowing for innovative concepts and the promotion of new ideas

  • Look for continuous improvement opportunities in our revenue forecast, projection, and analytical processes

  • Utilize financial systems to improve and complete tasks (i.e. Cognos PAX, Cognos BI, SAP, etc.)

  • Maximize long-term shareholder value while protecting corporate assets

Requirements:


  • 7+ years Finance experience, preferably in a high growth environment

  • Exceptional commitment and track record of accuracy, attention-to-detail and quality while meeting goals or deadlines

  • Outstanding analytical abilities, able to extract and communicate insights from broad data sets

  • Exhibits clear leadership and development potential

  • Strong interpersonal soft skills and ability to establish strong rapport and partnerships at all levels of the organization

  • Self-directed and able to work well and communicate effectively in a team environment with minimal supervision. 

  • Superb verbal and written communication, as well as process and project management skills

  • Robust financial acumen blended with business partnership

  • Ability to credibly achieve results through influence and persuasion

  • Must be driven and highly motivated with positive attitude and strong work ethic

  • Passionate about the company mission

  • Advanced expertise in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

  • Experienced user with knowledge of ERP and business systems such as SAP, IBM Cognos BI and Cognos PAX (TM1)

Education:


  • BS or BA in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related field

  • MBA strongly preferred
