The Fidelity Claim Manager, based in Basking Ridge, New Jersey, will be responsible for leading a team of Fidelity Claim professionals in delivering the highest quality Fidelity Claim work product for U.S. based insureds while meeting all internal and external compliance requirements on Fidelity Claims the team handles worldwide. The Fidelity Manager will be administratively responsible for overseeing claims in the Fidelity line and managing a group of direct report handlers based in New Jersey and remotely. 




Key components of the role include: monitoring overall claim activities, analysis of monthly reports to evaluate key metrics, and leadership and staff development. The position will work closely with the Fidelity Discipline Leader and Chief Technical Officer to help achieve key Fidelity and Financial Lines Claims’ business plans and objectives. 




The Fidelity Claim Manager is responsible for motivating, supervising, developing and retaining the staff. The Fidelity Claim Manager reports to the Fidelity Discipline Leader. 




 


Duties and Responsibilities: 



  • Work directly with the Fidelity Discipline Leader and Chief Technical Officer in the analysis and creation of technical strategy to be implemented by the team
  • In conjunction with the Fidelity Discipline Leader, determine discipline-specific resource needs and develop plans to maximize resources to meet business needs
  • Demonstrate leadership skills including collaboration, influence, strategic focus, communication and accountability
  • Influence environment in the discipline to maintain a high level of employee engagement
  • Independently manage and identify solutions for business issues and problems within the Fidelity discipline
  • Effectively transfer knowledge to the staff for their personal an development and to allow them the opportunity for higher authority levels
  • Demonstrate leadership in internal and external environment by providing guidance on coverage, service and negotiation issues
  • Demonstrate highly developed analytical, problem-solving and negotiation skills
  • Proven success in demonstrating transformational management and leadership skills including performance management, coaching, giving feedback and creating business goals and meaningful development plans
  • Partner with underwriters to enhance and manage marketing initiatives and customer service commitments for the discipline
Technical Skills/Competencies: 
  • Strong proficiency in all functional areas of Fidelity Claims including Commercial Crime and Financial Institution Bonds as well as Kidnap Ransom and Workplace Violence coverages
  • In depth knowledge of jurisdictional nuances
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, articulate and execute on vision and strategy
  • Demonstrated exceptional oral, written and presentation skills that positively influence a wide audience within and outside of the Claim department
  • Demonstrated ability to promote open communication that fosters an environment of continual learning, staff development and team collaboration
  • Exceptional understanding of Claim Best Practices
  • Negotiation skills and resources that will influence the team’s results
  • Strong cost management skills consistent with Best Practices requirements
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of the fundamental components of Claim, underwriting and industry strategies and trends
  • Exceptional organizational, prioritization and time management capabilities
  • Track record of success in coaching and developing staff
  • Some travel required


Experience and Education:




 


  • Minimum 10 years’ experience handling and/or supervising Fidelity and other complex claims
  • Bachelor’s degree required.  Advanced degree (e.g., law, accounting, finance, etc.). a plus
