Purpose and Scope:

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, or designee, this is an exciting opportunity for an individual to join the Kahr Bearing Engineering team supporting the design, development, and testing of new and existing products, as well as support manufacturing. This position will collaborate with all areas of the organization, including engineering, manufacturing, quality, purchasing, and sales to provide a solution to the customers’ design challenges.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Supporting external sales and business management personnel on new business opportunities
  • Working directly with customers to satisfy their application needs with engineered solutions
  • Providing technical consultation to internal and external customers on product design, application, qualification, service problems, quality deviations and material and parts substitution.
  • Creating conceptual designs based on engineering specifications and industry standards to meet customer, manufacturing, and quality requirements
  • Performing engineering analysis (stress, FEA, fatigue) to support new product development and/or sustaining existing designs
  • Preparing technical proposal to support new business opportunities
  • Preparing Sales drawings using Computer Aided Design (CAD) to support new business opportunities
  • Providing design requirements to Design Engineers and Designers assigned to specific projects
  • Reviewing designs for completeness and proper application of engineering principles
  • Problem solving; conduct analyses, physical testing and suggested design or manufacturing improvements
  • Providing direction and assisting in new product qualification test programs
  • Preparing test procedures and test reports in support of new product development
  • Interacting with manufacturing engineers, production floor, and suppliers to clarify design intent, technical requirements, and improve process capabilities


Required Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited college
  • 4 years minimum of experience in design, mechanical design, application related analysis and/or related engineering activities, or a combination of education and training which would provide the level of knowledge, skill and ability required to complete outlined responsibilities
  • Proficient 3D modeling software experience
  • Must be able to travel (domestic and international) 25% of the time
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent MS Office skills
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

Preferred Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent
  • Engineering work experience in the Aerospace Industry
  • Knowledge of bearing systems design and analysis highly preferred
  • Knowledge of polymer chemistry, composites, chemical reactions, or rheology
  • Experience with metal forming and manufacturing methods commonly used for bearings
  • Proficient engineering analysis (stress, FEA, fatigue) experience
  • 3D modeling and drawing creation with Creo or Pro/Engineer
  • Knowledge of ASME Y14.5M GD&T standard and familiarity with engineering drawings
  • Knowledge of Mathcad software
  • Mechanical aptitude displayed through personal hobbies/projects/work experience
  • Pragmatic self-starter who demonstrates a sense of urgency in meeting customer expectations and delivering results
