Fall 209 - The Engineering Intern provides technical and support work for engineering design projects. The work of the engineering intern is normally limited to a few specific areas such as design and development of internally used tools and engineering test programs and other assigned special projects. In addition to providing fundamental technical knowledge and skills, the engineering intern’s other major aspect of work is data collection, input, maintenance, record keeping and other assigned work. This position is based in Houston, TX.



  • Provide fundamental technical support in design and development of various engineering tools and test programs, and specific assigned engineering projects.

  • Provide data collection, input and data management for engineering studies, projects and compliance requirements.

  • Develop software tools to aid production in validation of assembled products

  • Partner with design engineering team to update engineering documentation and ERP systems as needed in support of improvement efforts

  • Provide limited technical analysis, troubleshooting and solutions under the direction of an engineer or supervisor.

  • Perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.

  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures

  • Respond to change productively and handle other duties as required

  • Successfully use company ERP system



Education & Experience:

  • College student currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or masters degree program in electrical engineering.

  • Minimum GPA: 3.0

  • Minimum work availability of 25 hours per week.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Have analytical skills to recognize patterns in data, information or events to draw logical conclusions and make recommendations for action. Ability to efficiently use all Microsoft Office products.

  • Operational Knowledge of logic and binary operations.

  • Basic programming skills in C or C++ desired.

  • Ability to use standard electrical test equipment such as Oscilloscopes and Multimeters.

  • Ability to use inspection tools and measurement devices, including but not limited to, calipers and micrometers.

  • Advanced math and reading skills.

  • Prior ERP experience preferred

  • Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Windows and Office including MS project, Visio and Excel

Communication Skills:

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to operate test equipment and obtain measurements and data. To use established computer programs to input data, run queries and perform analysis.
