Job Description:

The Department of Medical Informatics at the University of Oklahoma (OU), OU-TU School of Community Medicine (SCM) is recruiting full-time Department faculty. The SCM is a regional campus of the OU College of Medicine, in partnership with the University of Tulsa. Candidates must have a doctoral degree (MD/DO/PhD). Clinical Informatics experience is preferred. Teaching experience, evidence of independent and collaborative research, and a commitment to service in the community are highly desirable. Responsibilities include teaching, maintaining active independent and collaborative research, and participating in professional service. Successful candidates will have exceptional opportunities for collaborative and interdisciplinary research across the OU-Tulsa campus, the Health Sciences Center (OUHSC) in Oklahoma City, as well as programs affiliated with the main OU campus in Norman. For qualified candidates, administrative roles such as Director of Curriculum, Medical Director, or similar roles may be available. Additionally, positions funded by an endowed chair may be available.

The Department of Medical Informatics is a leader in clinical informatics and delivery system innovation at the health system, community, and national levels. The Department exemplifies OU’s mission of academic excellence, cultivates a rich research environment, and delivers care and expertise to the community. The Department sponsors OU’s largest translational research projects and implements health IT interventions affecting nearly all individuals within the state. The Department led the development of and is providing ongoing support for the region’s largest Health Information Exchange, which facilitates the coordination of care for more than 3.5 million individuals. Department faculty are regularly consulted in the development of state and national policy regarding health IT, interoperability, information exchange, the use of data to improve population health and efficiencies in healthcare, and value-based payment models.


The OU-Tulsa campus is equipped with new, state-of-the-art educational facilities, faculty offices, and research infrastructure. Approximately 90 miles northeast of Oklahoma City, Tulsa is situated on the Arkansas River at the foothills of the Ozark Mountains in northeast Oklahoma, a region of the state known as Green Country. Tulsa’s cost of living is below the national average and the city features an abundance of affordable housing as well as a good selection of public and private schools. The Tulsa metropolitan area treasures a vibrant arts community with a ballet, opera, symphony orchestra, and two world class art museums.
