SUMMARY: 

This role is part of our Purina Animal Nutrition business helping our network of local cooperatives, independent dealers and other large retailers serve producers, and animal owners throughout the United States. Through industry -leading R&D and committed partnerships, we innovate the nutrition products and practices that unlock the full potential of every animal for a healthier, more productive life.  

The Plant Sanitation is the front-line employee who performs the manufacturing processes that add value and quality to the inputs and create the final high-quality final products.  There are a variety of sub-classifications within the Operator job family that could range in specific duties from receiving and handling the raw materials, adding value through a variety of proprietary processes, to packaging the final product.  In all stages of production safety, attention to detail, a quality and sanitation focus, and efficiency are key to the success of the operation.  

HOURS: 7am-3:30pm

EDUCATION: 

* High School Diploma or GED.  

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

* 5+ years of manufacturing and industrial machine operations experience   

* Basic computer skills.

* Ability to follow manufacturer’s specifications and directions

* Ability to lift/carry up to 40 lbs.  

DUTIES:


  • Follow all plant policies and procedures, with respect to SAFETY.

  • Follow all plant policies and procedures, with respect to Quality.

  • Follow all plant policies and procedures, with respect to Attendance.

  • Perform daily housekeeping duties:

  • Physically clean the plant as directed.

  • Maintain plant Leak List, and communicate to supervisor new leaks within the mill.

  • Remove packing dunnage

  • Empty Metal Detector totes

  • Empty trash bins

  • Sweep plant and Warehouse


  • Keep work area clean, sweep floor daily, remove machine dust daily.

  • Clean packer as needed or as directed.

  • Remove trash per plant guidelines.


  • Handle torn bags and reprocess material, this includes “dumping RPM” as directed.

  • Unload trucks as instructed, retain delivery paperwork and deliver to plant administrator.

  • Perform any other duties as assigned.



QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have a Safe Plant work record. Must have a clean work record:  Not on “Final Written Warning” for job performance. Annual certification at the operating unit for quality functions must be done with documentation to confirm competency for this position. Attention to detail is a must. Experience operating computer software. Ability to climb and work at heights. Requires good math skills. Complete and Maintain Quality documentation per STAT Quality Standard Lift 50 lb. bags, 5 times in 60sec. Pass a forklift certification test. Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot problems.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Working in a manufacturing or warehouse environment, you will be walking, standing and engaging in movement throughout the day, and occasionally to frequently be required to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs. Due to a large variety of job duties (both routine and non-routine), certain duties also may involve, a variety of physical activities including bending, lifting, stooping, turning, twisting, pushing,

pulling, raising arms above shoulders and head, standing, working in enclosed areas, climbing stairs or ladders, and operating heavy machinery. The noise level in the work environment can vary but noise is usually low to moderate.   

You may be required to wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety gloves, hearing protection, a respirator or dust mask, protective footwear and protective clothing or uniforms.  Work may be performed in cold and/or hot temperatures and the environment can be dusty.  Physical requirements further include the ability to engage in productive and collaborative communication with co-workers and work may need to be performed during non-standard hours, including nights and weekends.  At times, the ability to work overtime also may be required.  The ability to perform these requirements is necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
