The Department of Biological Sciences at Clemson University invites applications for three tenure-track Assistant Professor positions in (1) Microbiology, (2) Evolutionary Medicine, and (3) Organismal Biology, with an expected start date of August, 2019. We seek creative, interactive individuals who address cutting-edge research questions. The Department awards undergraduate and graduate degrees in Biological Sciences and Microbiology, as well as graduate degrees in Environmental Toxicology. The department of Biological Sciences is a founding member of the newly formed College of Science, a central player in both the university's strategic plan, ClemsonForward (https://www.clemson.edu/forward/) and the college's ScienceForward plan (https://www.clemson.edu/science/about/scienceforward.html). Located on Lake Hartwell in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Clemson University is South Carolina's public land-grant University. Successful candidates must hold a doctoral degree and have postdoctoral experience. Competitive candidates will demonstrate an ability to develop a vigorous and independent, externally funded and nationally recognized research program; demonstrate teaching excellence and a commitment to diversity inclusion; and participate in relevant undergraduate and graduate education programs.



We seek a microbiologist who explores basic questions in infectious disease and uses molecular, cellular, biochemical, systems biological, and/or computational approaches to study single-celled eukaryotic pathogens or viruses. The successful applicant will be expected to become an active member of the Eukaryotic Pathogens Innovation Center (EPIC) ( http://www.clemson.edu/centers-institutes/epic/). Individuals who focus on host-pathogen interactions, virulence mechanisms, resistance, microbe-microbe interactions and/or closely associated research areas are especially encouraged to apply.
