This position will have a broad range of responsibilities that require deep knowledge across the domains of enterprise architecture (physical and virtual servers, high availability & clustering, converged & hyper-converged infrastructure, SAN, Windows/Linux, Networking, etc.) and cloud technologies. The position will: securely develop and innovate current virtualized infrastructures into IaaS systems including monitoring, develop IaaS systems for expansion within and beyond current data centers, and identification and development of new service platforms aligned with the research and development mission. Simply putbring cloud computing technology into the R&D and SQA space to form solutions.
This is a technology leadership position that requires hands-on development and implementation within a fast-moving, agile group that interacts with and supports research and development activities in the enterprise. The Senior Systems Engineer will additionally participate as a subject matter expert and collaborator in enterprise-wide development of service/product models and architecture.

The Sr. Systems Engineer works in collaboration with the business owners, stakeholders, user community, vendors, and Partners IS to align his/her efforts with enterprise or large organization strategic and operational goals and initiatives. S/he is a rare resource that can bring the most complex problems to resolution by applying the appropriate technical framework solutions. S/he proposes, manages, maintains, and enforces Quality Assurance best practices, workflows and test frameworks relating to these systems and applications.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Develops tools, test Infrastructure strategies and solutions that comply with Partners IS standards and strategic directions. Perform Training on developed Tools suite, Terminology, and processes and best practices.
Commonly partners with Project Manager(s) to drive project(s) to successful completion, leveraging in-depth knowledge of Software Quality Assurance documentation, tracking and tools that will provide the highest level of quality product with clear understanding and visibility into the test process and test status for dissemination and consumption by all interested parties.
The position will:
1. Securely develop and innovate current virtualized infrastructures into IaaS systems, develop IaaS systems for expansion within and beyond current data centers, and identification and development of new service platforms aligned with the research and development mission.
2. Monitor, support, configure and physically manage servers, networks, storage, and clusters currently residing in the companys datacenters.
3. Provide expert troubleshooting and technical support of systems for supported business units. Coordinate teams in working through solutions.
4. Design, test, certify and document new systems, environments and cloud services.
5. Provide expert, internal-consulting to business units in developing cloud service-based solutions around the unique needs of an innovative and data-driven community.
Without formal management responsibility, on occasion will lead up to 5 resources in a technical capacity in a highly matrixed organization on multiple test efforts. Assigns/delegates/coordinates assignments as appropriate. Provides direction and guidance to team members to facilitate timely and quality results. Fosters a positive team environment through leadership and mentoring.
Stays current with industry trends as they relate to job responsibilities, able to incorporate impact of industry trends into how systems are designed, tested, implemented, and supported
Minimum Bachelors degree in a technology field, Masters preferred, or equivalent experience required.
10 years of hands-on IT experience, supporting a diverse set of Systems Infrastructure technologies and administration requirements.
8 years experience in Hyper-V technologies including but not limited to Hyper-V 2012 R2 and 2016 high available clusters, System Center integration and management (SCVMM 2016, SCOM 2016, SCCM 2016)
2 years experience in VMware technologies including ESXi and vCenter servers.
2 years experience in nested virtualization technologies (Hyper-V Hosts nested in VMware ESXi environment)
4 years of experience in SAN and block storage including HPE 3PAR StorServ solutions, Brocade SAN switches, and WWN configuration for attached storage, or similar technologies
4 years of experience with datacenter operations, rack orientation, HPE c7000 enclosures, iLO management, and HPE BL servers.
2 years of experience developing, testing, and provisioning PowerShell scripts for managing and monitoring the virtualization environment, as well as automating manual step processes like VM provisioning and VM cloud migration to Azure
2 years of experience in Azure cloud with emphasis in VM deployment, ARM templates, Web Apps, VNETs, Azure Site Recovery & Backup, and Azure OMS.
Preferred experience with Veeam Backup & Replication technologies for protecting critical VMs to on-prem shared storage and replicating to Azure blobs.
Preferred experience with Office 365 with emphasis to PowerBi reporting and Azure AD integration.
Preferred experience with Microsoft Team Foundation Server technologies for SDLC management and VSTS integration.
Excellent reasoning and analytic skills in a time critical/business critical problem solving operation.
Excellent project management skills, demonstrated ability of detailed technical documentation and task management.
