The Senior Learning Technologist (SLT) is an essential role focused on the development, management and execution of Learning & Development for Brigham Health and Partners HealthCare System. This individual will work closely with senior learning and OD consultants, program managers, and the Partners Talent Management Center of Excellence team. Services will be provided in collaboration with local HR and OD and Learning Service professionals at Brigham Health.
Reporting to the Director of Learning and Organizational Development, the SLT will support the development of learning solutions by applying sound instructional design and adult learning theory. The SLT will design alternative teaching modalities and content delivery methods. The SLT will assist in the creation of educational materials and resources for both traditional classroom-based and virtual synchronous workshops as well as online, self-directed, asynchronous learning. They will also be responsible managing third party online learning content including sourcing, integration, marketing and impact measurement. The SLT will also support development of web sites, materials, social media, other online channels and foster collaborative and peer learning.
A highly collegial department, Organization Development & Learning Services (ODLS) administers a continuum of Learning Services including: learning design and delivery, customer service and technical support for the learning management system, Organization Development solutions, and online and classroom training and seminars. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop world class learning materials
Design and develop digital learning (multimedia and web-based using e-learning authoring tools) in-house or with external vendors using the most effective delivery methods
Design learning for both physical and virtual classroom environments.
Build meaningful engagement and interactivity in a variety of learning environments.
Architect programs that include techniques for increasing online collaboration, active and simulation based learning activities.
Guide SMEs in evaluating current teaching methods and tools to encourage improvements in teaching effectiveness, delivery technologies, and instructional materials.
Evaluate the effectiveness of training delivery, post training skills assessments, and practical application exercise.
Manage digital content strategy & delivery platforms
Engage instructional design processes and implement best practices to ensure the quality and consistency of multi-modality educational materials for participants.
Research and curate content from multiple sources including third party and the public domain.
Build digital assets into traditional and virtual cohort-based programs.
Leverage Learning Management System (LMS) to publish, manage and track learning solutions.
Partner with Learning Platform Manager to improve administration of LMS.
Identify, deliver and monitor the effectiveness of best-in-class, emerging technology partners.
Other Professional Activities
Research and evaluate new evidence based teaching and learning methodologies and technologies and keeps current with instructional design best practices Provide up to date knowledge of the rapidly developing market including new technologies and learning techniques.
Manage various projects independently
Participate in governance for the learning function, including serving on learning community committees, etc.
Facilitate virtual and instructor-led training programs as needed.
Bachelors Degree, Masters preferred in Instructional Design or a related field within education.
7 years experience with instructional design for adult learners, preferably in healthcare or higher education.
Ability to lead teams of designers and LMS administrators.
Ability to build cross organizational relationships to drive learning mandates.
Experience with online learning environments, supporting face to face, online, blended, and self-directed modalities. BWH currently utilizes HealthStream for its LMS, but experience should not be limited to this platform.
Competence in hardware/software selection, multimedia production, web authoring/design.
Competence with various social media tool for educational purposes.
Familiarity with Content Management, Learning Management systems and familiarity with SCORM and other applicable standards.
Courseware development in HTML, Flash, web authoring, desktop publishing and other applications (Adobe CS, Captivate, Articulate, etc.)
