The Advanced Engineering department resides in the Charter Technology Engineering Center (CTEC) facilities in Englewood, CO and oversees the design and architecture of Charter s multi-billion dollar network infrastructure. We investigate, select, develop, and integrate technologies and solutions that meet the needs of the company for short, medium and long term initiatives. This includes the delivery of the technology plan and future architecture for Voice, Video, Data, Optical, Commercial, Cloud, CPE, Network and Access.
VOD / Headend engineer will support clients in a lab environment whom rely on services such as video, voice and data provided through 34 Headends. The primary focus will be on the support of Video On Demand (VOD) systems and assist in the day to day operations of 34 Headends.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Daily tasks include assisting clients with issues related to VOD operations, troubleshooting reported problems, validating service availability and completing client requests for services. Cross train with Lab Support Engineers. Work with LAB Integration Engineers in applying solutions across headends. The ideal candidate will have NOC experience or field experience working with a Cable Operator supporting VOD equipment. The ideal candidate will also be a Subject Matter Expert in VOD in an OCAP environment and should have/be:
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Self-motivated and ability to work independently using his/her own initiative and judgment
Willingness to adapt quickly to changing situations
Excellent written and oral communications skills
Effective problem solving and troubleshooting skills
Ability to manage priorities and time in a fast pace work environment
Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year College or university; or equivalent training, education and experience
Some travel required
