Night Shift Team Lead position
Assists the Phlebotomy Supervisor in the phlebotomy area and central processing areas in a hospital setting. Orients and trains new staff assuring that age appropriate care is delivered for population served. Assists in educational development of staff. Provides technical assistance to phlebotomists/ central processing in the performance of their duties. Assists in the completion of annual competencies for work unit. Gives input to updating procedure manuals. Coordinates collection, processing, and transportation of research specimens. Develops, designs, and monitors logs for tracking purposes. Audits all phlebotomy staff monthly. Audits DC, SOAR, In-Patient, and Out Patient daily. Maintains Phlebotomy and Central Processing inventory from several applications/sources. Demonstrates leadership skills. Performs duties in a professional and ethical manner and employs professional conduct and appearance in the performance of duties. Develops/uses proper professional communication skills with staff, patients, and families as well as proper technique and etiquette for answering the telephone and providing information. Must be fluent in the computer systems. The individual must demonstrate confidentiality and trustworthiness as well as deal effectively with people in stressful situations. Must being able to function and problem solve in a fast-paced hospital setting.
High School diploma or GED required. Graduation from an accredited phlebotomy or medical assistant program required. Two or more years of progressive experience with phlebotomy, specimen processing or handling, central processing or medical assisting required.
2 or more years of progressive lab experience or prior lab leadership is strongly preferred. Good organizational, communication, critical thinking, and problem solving capabilities. Strong multi-tasking skills and attention to detail. Experience in a clinical pathology and lab medicine environment preferred. Leadership experience, familiarity with medical terminology and strong computer skills preferred. Prefer candidate with Phlebotomy certification.
Internal applicants are required to attach their three most recent performance appraisals.
License or certification
Phlebotomy certification from a nationally recognized organization such as ASCP, AMT, or NCA preferred.
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $15.94 per hour.
Hours / Pay period
Night Shift, normally Wed-Sun 1900-0600, however, hours and days may vary and are subject to change.
As needed basis, PRN
