Position Summary

Responsible for the daily operation of the press as directed by the press operator.  Maintain cleanliness and operation of press.  Coordinate with internal agencies for required materials: I.E., ink, plate, paper, tape, etc.  Ensure accuracy of printed material coming from the press.

 

Key Duties / Responsibilities - Essential duties are identified by asterisks.

Quality and Production

Reads and understands schedules, job tickets, and multi-part specifications.

Understands the basic ISO 9001 concept and support actions and solutions to quality issues within the ISO framework.

Assist in inspecting printed sheets to ensure correctness in all areas of color, registration, match to samples, Stock #, and all other specifications at minimum of every 15 minutes.  20%

 

Washes blankets and plates. 5%

 

Place printed sheets into boxes, move 50 pound boxes onto pallet and stage stock for receiving into warehouse. 20%

 

Assist in entering all machine codes, subcodes, material codes, quantities, and time periods accurately for production records. 5%

Assists press operator in moving and maintaining registration color, perfs, punched, and all other printing specifications. 5%

 

Prepares roll-stock for printing, open rolls and place rolls onto splicer.  Inspect roll for defects before placing roll onto splicer.  10%

 

Assists in performing job make ready (takes ink out of machine, washes fountains & rollers, etc) 10%

 

Perform Perf Testing (as assigned) and enter data into perf database computer.  10%

Maintenance

Performs Autonomous Maintenance duties and prepares press for operation. (10%)

Organization

Keeps work area, work benches, equipment, tools, supplies, skids, packaging materials, records, ink, printed product, and waste neat, clean, and organized.

Training

May assist in training others to develop areas of identified weaknesses.

May cross train others to run equipment or special functions.

Roll of paper in good condition and correct type for current job. Stock being produced meets specifications.  Basic operations of the equipment in good working order.

Education & Knowledge Required

High school diploma or equivalent.

 

Experience / Skills / Abilities Required

Must be able to identify colors and imperfections.

Must display excellent work habits, willingness to be a team player.

Must be able to read and comprehend instructions.

Must be willing to work in a fast paced environment.

One year offset printing experience preferred.

Fork-lift certified (Pallet Jack).

Must possess good mechanical aptitude.

Must possess basic mathematical skills.
