The candidate will be part of the Microbial and Cell Culture Department responsible for the upstream development of early and late phase processes for the production of therapeutic proteins. Work packages may include execution of small scale bioreactor studies for evaluation and/or optimization of processes for improved facility fit, small scale model qualification, evaluatation and/or optimization of chemically defined media/feed platforms, and ATF/perfusion implementation.
The candidate will be responsible for conducting experiments, authoring technical reports, protocols, and technology transfer documents. The candidate will interact with scientists/engineers involved in the process scale-up and technology transfer of manufacturing processes for the production of pre-clinical, Phase 1 and 2 clinical supplies and GMS colleagues for Phase III and launch. The candidate will be expected to interact on a routine basis with colleagues in downstream process development and analytical methods development groups. The candidate will be responsible for evaluating and implementing new technologies in the cell culture area.

B.S. or M.S. degree in Bioprocess/Biochemical/Chemical Engineering or related Biological Science with >1 years of industrial experience
The candidate must have demonstrated a broad knownledge base in routine mammalian and/or microbial cell culture, sterile technique, establishment of cell banks, and expansion of cell lines. Candidate must have basic knowledge of cell culture or fermentation process development, characterization, and scale-up with a working knowledge of routine laboratory procedures and/or plant equipment/ operations.
The candidate must be a highly motivated self-starter, with excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in team and matrix environments.
