Job Description:

Come join our awesome team as a PRN Dietary Assistant with Valley Manor Care Center. This role is an as-needed (PRN) or on-call position.



Valley Manor Care Center is part of Volunteers of America National Services which serves as the Housing and Healthcare subsidiary of the Volunteers of America parent organization.



Hourly Pay: $17.87 - $19.58 per hour based on experience



Schedule: As needed (PRN) or on-call

    The Dietary Assistant provides quality food service in accordance with all State and Federal regulations and to meet the nutritional and individual needs of the residents.



    Required Qualifications:



      • Previous institutional dietary service experience is preferred.

      • Friendly and enjoy working with the elderly.

      • Ability to read and understand procedures used for work assignments, instructions, recipe directions and diet order cards.

      • Coordination and dexterity for preparing food and operating dietary equipment safely.

      • Adequate strength, endurance and coordination to meet the strenuous physical demands of such responsibilities as preparing food items, carrying quantity foods, serving meals, handling soiled dishes, operating dietary equipment and cleaning assigned work areas.

      • Coordination and dexterity for preparing food and operating dietary equipment safely.

      • Ability to work in an area that is often very hot/cold.




    Preferred Skills:

    • Ideal candidates are friendly, have great patience, and provide service with a 'smile'!

    • High School diploma/GED required preferred.


    Essentials:



    • Assists in defined food preparation, serving of meals and cleaning duties according to proper procedures, using various dietary equipment and supplies, as assigned by the Director of Food and Nutrition Services, Management Team and/or cook.

    • Understands and follows procedures related to all duties or special assignments as directed by the Director of Food and Nutrition Services, Management Team and/or cook.

    • Attends required in-services and completed assigned on-line modules.

    • Upon hire and annually, complete competency / skills set checklist to carry out the functions of the food and nutrition services department through simulation, direct observation, computer-based learning, written test or documentation review.

    • Follows reporting procedures for the following:

    • Observed resident concerns.

    • Supply and equipment need.

    • Damaged, unsafe, malfunctioning equipment.

    • Conditions related to breeding insects, rodents, or other vermin
