We are seeking a skilled and motivated Software Developer. In this position, you will help design and maintain the Nebraska Intelligence application which is used in gathering data on reported suspicious activities. This position will work with the Intelligence Division to design and maintain the application used across Nebraska. We are looking for a Software Developer with experience in C#, ASP.Net, MVC, HTML, CSS, SQL and database design experience. Knowledge of data warehouse tools such as SQL Server Reporting Services and SharePoint.


Assist in providing application development support of enterprise law enforcement software. Duties assigned include participating in system analysis, design, testing, implementation and user support with law enforcement forms and reports, data collection, using vendor APIs, and building interfaces between the State Patrol and other agencies to share critical data between systems. Plan, implement, and support GUI design, business rules, application flow and interfaces. Performs analysis of data and create of custom reports and forms. Primary programs used include C#.NET, ASP.NET, MVC, and SQL Server Reporting Services as well as custom law enforcement applications and tools. Develop and maintain reports using relational data database querying techniques. Create SQL database queries, views, functions, stored procedures, and scripts needed for applications and reporting solutions. Revise existing database structures and migrate data and processes in response to changing technology and/or customer needs. Test applications, lead users in testing, and resolve reported issues. Document user interfaces and processes to create technical documents and user manuals. Keep current with recent developments within the industry and new technologies. Reviews and incorporates best practices including object oriented design, criminal justice information security and NITC standards related to application development. Understand the flow of criminal justice information between systems and agencies. Keep clear lines of communication with supervisor, peers, staff, and personnel within the State Patrol. Participate in the full range of software development activities, including assisting with requirements gathering; analysis and definition; functional and technical design; coding and testing; implementation, and consult with users on application issues.



Requirements / Qualifications:




Minimum Qualifications: Experience, education, or training in coding computer applications.



Preferred Qualifications: Associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field such as computer science, computer engineering or management information systems with experience in programming. Experience or training in designing web and desktop applications using C#.NET or VB.NET, ASP.NET, MVC, Microsoft SQL Server software development, database reporting, and object-oriented programming. Knowledge in data warehouse tools, SQL stored procedures and SQL Server Reporting Services. Exceptional written and oral communication skills. Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a focus on listening and questioning skills. Strong documentation skills. Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities. Exceptional customer service orientation.
