Job Description:

Description:

The Role:

Are you excited about vaccines, antibodies, and therapeutics for the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases? Do you want to use and explore cutting-edge genetic and proteomic techniques to understand vaccine responses and make new discoveries which could advance our understanding of antibody function and human immunology?

The Ippolito Lab is seeking a postdoctoral scientist to join our research team and help expand our established pipeline of molecular and proteomic techniques for the high-throughput profiling of antibody repertoires in human immunity. This position will offer an outstanding opportunity to build a unique skillset at the interface of immunology and computational science, with an emphasis on efforts that have a high potential for ground-breaking discoveries for therapeutic and vaccine development.

Your work environment will be the Disease Intervention & Prevention unit at the Texas Biomedical Research Institute. Texas Biomedical Research Institute is the only private, non-profit infectious disease research facility, providing high containment research capabilities (BSL3 & BSL4) alongside a National Primate Research Center.

Primary Role:

  • Design and conduct independent scientific research.
  • Analyze molecular data associated with vaccination and antibody responses.
  • Stay current with the latest literature and actively participate in group meetings to discuss and share new findings.
  • Communicate your research results to the scientific community through publications in journals and presentations at scientific conferences.
  • Assist in the preparation and writing of grant or contract applications and research publications to support the incumbent as well as to foster one's own independent research program in human immunology.

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • A Ph.D. degree in Microbiology, Cellular and Molecular Biology, Virology, or Immunology.
  • Track record of scientific publications.
  • Ideal candidates would have training in a variety of basic techniques, including cloning, PCR, cell culture, and protein purification.
  • Familiarity with immunology techniques and general knowledge of antibody repertoire analysis and monoclonal antibody characterization are preferred.
  • Candidate should be highly motivated, eager to solve scientific problems, willing to learn new skills and techniques, and have excellent communication and organization skills.

How to Apply?

To be considered for the position you must send two documents to Dr. Ippolito (gippolito@txbiomed.org) in addition to applying to this job ad:
