Clinical Instructor reports to the Director: Radiography Quality Assurance and Training. Works cohesively with the Clinical Education team, department managers, radiologists, technologists, students, and affiliated colleges. Provides supervision, education, and training for medical imaging students in all locations: Boston, Chelsea, Danvers, Revere and Waltham. Adheres to standards for patient care and radiation safety. Follows departmental, hospital and JRCERT policies. Provides educational and clinical support to departments as needed.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Clinical:
• Excellent clinical knowledge, problem solving and patient care skills
• Responsible for training in the ER, outpatient, and portable radiography: GI/GU fluoroscopy and OR experience preferred
• Provides students with clinical supervision, both direct and indirect, following the JRCERT policy
• Work directly with students in all departments to complete competencies, mid-semester, and final semester evaluations. Submits college documents by established deadlines
• Supports technologist training and education
Collaborates with technologists to assess student progress in clinical areas
Assists in departments as needed
Excellent communication and teaching skills
Educational / Administrative
• Assists in student onboarding and orientation
Knows and applies knowledge of program goals, clinical objectives and evaluations
• Develops and conducts classes to prepare students for clinical assignments, pairing clinical education training with didactic education
Participates in affiliated colleges clinical instructor meetings
Consults with affiliated colleges to develop Clinical Action Plans
Completes QA audits and creates educational material for technologists and students
Provides support to staff technologists on mentoring and working with adult learners
Prepares for JRCERT and JC inspections
Maintains accurate and timely documentation of student clinical records
• Provides prospective radiologic technologist students with job shadow opportunities
• Participates in college recruitment visits and MGH sponsored high school student events
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
Strong technical expertise in radiography, acquires high quality images within the department and portably: GI / GU Fluoroscopy and the Operating Room preferred
Approaches all duties and responsibilities in a positive and professional manner
Strong interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills
Computer skills: Microsoft word, Excel, PowerPoint, EPIC, and PACS
Minimum 2 years clinical experience Member of a professional society (MSRT or ASRT)
