ECS is seeking a Documentation Specialist to work in our Quantico, VA office.
Job Description:
ECS has an opportunity for a Documentation Specialist in support of our long-term DoD customer. This position will be responsible for organizing and preparing paper medical records for scanning to digital images. As a Documentation Specialist you will:
Organize the contents of a service member medical record and prepare it for scanning.
Demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of the importance of quality control and validation of the imaging system.
Demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of the importance of the service member medical record, including all parts, subparts and verification letters (DD2963).
Monitor the movement of records through all tasks from initial receipt through final destruction and archiving.
Perform searches as requested by client, maintain logs on the receipt of shipment of records, destroy and archive documents, and prepare periodic inventories of records.
Collect and manage client requirements for document and records management system solutions.
Demonstrate a knowledge of the overall Service Treatment Record (STR) conversion process.
Review service members' medical records, identify corresponding parts and subparts, sort, organize, and prepare documents for digital conversion (approximately 35 records per business day).
Work in a team production environment and be able to perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
Associates Degree with 2 years of relevant experience.
Degree may be substituted for 4 years of experience.
Must be U.S. Citizen able to pass background investigation and hold Public Trust clearance.
Computer experience - ability to efficiently enter data into a tracking system with minimal error.
Strong attention to detail with an emphasis on quality.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Able to occasionally lift boxes containing medical records weighing up to 35 pounds.
Desired Skills:
Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA) certification - familiarity and training for protecting privileged and confidential medical information.
Familiarity and experience with Marine Corps medical records and/or separations processes.
Familiarity and experience using Veterans Administration Health Administration Information Management System (HAIMS).
