The Special EducTransition Coordinator oversees all Special Education/IEP transition plan related activities at the district level. The role assists staff in providing special education and transition services that are critical to the success of students with disabilities by providing guidance and training in a manner that is compliant with all pertinent laws and regulations. Services are provided for all levels of transition planning including, Middle School into High School and High School into the workforce or postsecondary training/education. The position also assists in the completion of related reports that may be required by the school, state and/or federal government and facilitates communications between students, parents, staff/school administration and agencies.

This is a full-time position. Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week is required. Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during workday, typically 9-5 (or 8-4) or as defined by the school.




ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties.


- Oversees and supports compliance for Section 3 (Indicator B13) of the IEP process, including support on school and state reporting, and/or corrective action plans (as needed).


- Helps ensure that transition assessment and Educational Development Plan (EDP) data is current for SE students in their IEP plan, in grades 7-12.


- Monitors IEP transition plans to ensure compliance, in accordance to Michigan Department of Education (and/or federal) guidance, manuals, and checklists. - Serves as a school contact/liaison to outside agencies related to transition and/or post-secondary opportunities. (Including state, local, and other educational agencies)


- Helps monitor graduation plans and graduation cohort data at the school level, and focuses on action steps towards improving special education graduation rates.


- Assists teachers with planning and coordinating work-based learning opportunities for students. - Proactively anticipates and plans for, school professional development and/or training opportunities. - Collaborates proactively and ongoing with Career-Tech Education (CTE) school admin and teachers, as related to special education student courses, observations, work-experiences/job-shadowing, and post-secondary needs. - Serves as a liaison between school administration, teachers, and parents, to support transition and post-secondary outcomes.


- Serves as an IEP district representative option for high school and transition (8th to 9th grade) IEP meetings.


- Supports the transition process of 8th grade to high school, through teacher collaboration, meetings, and communication with high school counselors, advisors, and teachers.


- Helps maintain state-level reporting and census data with low-incident outcome groups.


- Attends professional development focused on post-secondary and transition (such as through MTSA and MOSPA), as assigned.



MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:



- Bachelor's Degree in Education and/or Master's (preferred) in special education (preferred)


- Three years or more of successful teaching experience in special education (high school preferred) - Appropriate/Current State Certification (including endorsement in at least one area of special education)



OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:



- Knowledge and expertise in state and federal transition (B13) requirements


- Demonstrated leadership skills


- Proven ability of contributing to, and building, positive school culture


- Strong verbal and written communication skills


- Proficiency with learning systems and related technology - Strong organizational and planning skill



Compensation & Benefits: Stride, Inc. considers a person's education, experience, and qualifications, as well as the position's work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value when determining a new employee's salary level. Salaries will differ based on these factors, the position's level and expected contribution, and the employee's benefits elections. Offers will typically be in the bottom half of the range.
