Under the supervision of the Production Supervisor. The Heavy Equipment Operator operates, lubricates, and helps maintain heavy equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Operates and lubricates heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
Helps maintain heavy equipment.
Responsible for housekeeping in work areas
Spotting and unloading railcars.
Inspects belts and feeders.
Cleans spills using jackhammer, shovel, and broom.
Perform pre-shift inspections on the equipment.
Report any needed repairs to the supervisor.
Must be able to maintain accurate records.
Assist in plant clean-up.
Perform other duties as requested by the supervisor.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED
Ability to read, write and verbally communicate in the English language.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to read and write to complete required daily reports
Must have good communication skills one on one.
Must have good communications skills using a two-way radio.
Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
Must be able to climb stairs and ladders
Must be able to remain seated in equipment for up to 12 hrs/day
Must be able to lift 40-100 lbs. (wheelbarrow loaded and unloaded)
Must have good hand/eye coordination and vision to operate equipment safely
Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions
Must keep safety above all else
WORKING CONDITIONS
Works in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, ice, rain, and high humidity, and is required to work in all plant environments. The incumbent will be exposed to vibrating equipment and mechanical and electrical hazards, and heights. May have exposure to dust, cement, clay, gypsum, sand, diesel exhaust, lubricants, solvents, various fuels, etc. (See MSDSs)
