The Opportunity: Patient Care Associate - Endoscopy Unit
Why This Role Is Important?
The Endoscopy Unit provides total gastrointestinal care. Ninety percent of the patients are outpatients, and the remaining ten percent are inpatients or transfers from another facility. There are approximately 20,000 cases performed in the unit annually. PCA role works under the direction of the RN and closely with a multidisciplinary health care team in a procedural setting rotating through patient admission/ procedure prep area, procedure room, recovery area and helping with patient discharges. Duties include responding to patient requests in a timely manner, safeguarding patient confidentiality, monitoring patients and communicating in a respectful manner. This position requires the ability to handle a variety of patient care tasks such as monitoring vital signs and ADL's. PCA supports procedure room turnover, scope cleaning and recovery, patient escort/liaison, and stocking supplies. Endoscope scope processing is part of the PCA role in the Endo unit contributing to the overall infection control program.
Schedule
Day (7am-3pm / 7am-7pm), Evening (3pm-11pm), and Night (7pm-7am, 11pm-7a)
Rotational holiday and weekend schedule

Qualifications
Required: Must have recent experience, and/or training, in clinical patient care.
Preferred: Licensed, certified or enrolled student in a Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Mental Health Technician, or EMT accredited program, at the time of hire, OR
Candidate enrolled in a Nursing, Pre-Med, PA undergraduate program, with at least one semester of patient care rotations completed, at time of hire.
