Job Family Definition:

Researches, designs, develops operates and maintains support services for existing and new business applications and/or information systems solutions through integration of technical and business requirements per standard company IT process methodology (such as ITIL and ITSM). Includes identification, development and prioritization of support services according to business criticality. Applications and information systems solutions include both 3rd party software and internally developed applications and infrastructure. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, analysis of business requirements, configuration of 3rd party software implementation of infrastructure solutions, creation of documentation, testing and maintenance of applications, and support and maintenance of infrastructure and information systems. Works within the Information Technology function, obtaining resources and working in support of objectives and strategies. Participates in architecture reviews to ensure that solutions comply with standards and uses approved technologies. Typical customers are company end users and various functional areas such as Supply Chain, Research and Development, Marketing, Finance, a business, or the company.

Management Level Definition:

Applies developed subject matter knowledge to solve common and complex business issues and recommends appropriate alternatives. Works on problems of diverse complexity and scope. May act as a team or project leader providing direction to team activities and facilitates information validation and team decision making process. Exercises independent judgment to identify and select a solution. Ability to handle most unique situations. May seek advice in order to make decisions on complex business issues.

Responsibilities:


  • Participates as a member of an IT technical team or teams. May lead a small team of support engineers or application. Independently implements end- user or enterprise infrastructure application or services of moderate complexity as prepared by more senior technologist in support of more complex solutions.

  • Applies technical knowledge to operate and administer infrastructure or software platforms and user groups of moderate to high complexity. Independently resolves some highly complex technical issues within a given technical area. Partners with members of a given team or other IT teams as appropriate. May act as an Incident Life Cycle coordinator or service delivery lead to provide resolution for complex issues. Identifies potential escalations and proactively alerts management, leads escalation through L4.

  • Proactively searches for issues and provides solutions to prevent problems from occurring in area of responsibility including patch management.

  • Independently reviews, implements and verifies highly complex and high risk changes and solutions. Mentors other team members.

  • Ensures configuration management database entries are complete and accurate.

  • Understand and keep abreast of existing and new HPE security requirements as well as HPE IT's data handing strategies and requirements, always keeping things within those specifications.

  • Design and implement data center security systems including intrusion detection, threat and ransomware prevention, identity and access management systems, cryptography standards.

  • Define security requirements, best practices and policy documentation for configuration of Servers, Networks and Applications.

  • Keep up with and design solutions that are consistent with government and regulatory agency supported norms, such as NIST CSF, ISO IEC 27001/2700212, and other standards-based frameworks.

  • Design a security incident response strategy.

  • Provide assistance and training to Administrative teams to ensure compliance with Data Center Security Policies. Evangelize security requirements, best practices and policy.

  • Perform regular security assessments of CVEs and their impact on key applications and lab assets.

  • Design, implement and support a patching and updating regimen that keeps all systems current with security bulletins, requirements, and recommendations, as much as is possible, while maintaining a functioning environment for our development, testing and demonstrations.

  • Monitor and Analyze network traffic and security agent notifications.

  • Interface with HPE Cybersecurity as our representative for Data Center Labs.

  • Document all procedures, configurations, specifications, requirements, strategies, processes and everything that you do for training of others to increase the effectiveness of the security program.

  • Drive continuous quality improvements.


Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Management Information SystemsComputer Science or equivalent experience and a minimum of 6 years related experience or a Master's degree and a minimum of 4 years of experience.

  • Information security certifications (e.g. CISSP, CISA etc.) are a plus


Knowledge and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology field

  • Minimum of 8 Years experience in leading network and system security .

  • Minimum 6 Years experience with Linux System Administration including RHEL and SLES including best patching practices, system upgrades, security a udits .

  • Windows Server 20XX System Administration is desirable but not required.

  • Minimum 4 years experience in design , implementation and management of monitoring solutions such as Nagios. Solarwinds Orion and Prometheus.


  • Experience with installations and management of security tools such as Security Onion, Snort, Crowdstrike Falcon, Vmware Log Insight, Clam AV.

  • 6 years experience in design, deployment and management of centralized management tools such as Chef, Puppet, Salt, Ansible

  • 6 years experience in Linux scripting languages with Perl, Python, Bash.

  • 4 years o perational knowledge of Firewalls, LDAP, DNS, SSL, Routing Protocols, Dual Factor Authentication, VPN technologies, Malware, Anti-Virus Solutions.

  • Practical knowledge of enterprise level detection and mitigation solutions f o r DDOS, Malware , Brute Force Attacks , Ransomware.
