About the Role:

The Special Projects Division of KPFF is growing and looking for an ambitious and initiative-drivenentry-level Structural/Civil CAD Drafter to strengthen our dynamic team in Tacoma, WA. You will be on Ruston Way, with a view of Commencement Bay, in Tacoma, WA. As a structural/civil drafter, you will work within a team of engineers and drafters alike and become a vital key to producing construction documents that will become a part of our real-world infrastructure.

What You'll Be Doing:

Structural/Civil CAD Drafter:


  • Apply your AutoCAD knowledge to diverse projects, collaborating with teams to devise innovative solutions to projects that will include civil site plans, bridges, retaining walls, underground structures and marine structures such as piers, wharves, dolphins, floating structures and ferry terminals.

Who We're Looking For:

  • Associate degree in computer-aided drafting, and/or equivalent experience and training.
  • Experience drafting in AutoCAD and willing to learn setup of project drawings and maintain compliance with various client or agency standards using AutoCAD.
  • Willingness to learn and become proficient in unfamiliar AutoCAD software.
  • General understanding of plans, profiles, sections, and details from rough sketches, verbal instruction, and engineers redlines.
  • Understanding of basic construction and mechanical process.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Understanding of managing external references within AutoCAD environments (understanding data short cuts a plus).

Physical Demands and Work Environment:


  • Duties are primarily conducted in a standard office setting, requiring prolonged periods of sitting at a desk or computer table.
  • Occasionally may be required to lift objects weighing up to 15 lbs.
  • Occasionally visiting project locations and performing field inspections which may involve walking, standing, kneeling, or navigating uneven terrain.
  • Traveling to project sites or client meetings, which may involve driving or flying.

Compensation:

The base salary for this role is competitive and will be determined based on the candidate's experience, education, and skills. The expected range for a qualified candidate with 0-3 years of experience is $50,000-$65,000. Additionally, we offer performance-based bonuses to recognize and reward outstanding contributions in each Reporting Center.
