A Day in the Life
In this role you will be a key member of Medtronic's center-led Indirect Supply Management (ISM) team and you will be responsible for managing and influencing professional services spend (consulting, legal services, data). This is a global role that give you the opportunity to partner with stakeholders across many functions, regions and businesses to drive value. The position will report to the Global Indirect Supply Management Leader for Professional Services. Strong business acumen and prior sourcing experience is a must as you will be called upon to support complex consulting engagements with strategic partners.

The Strategic Sourcing Analyst will be a key member of Medtronic's center-led Indirect Supply Management team and will be responsible for day to day management of professional services categories, including but not limited to IT consulting, IT services and Data Management categories. Successful candidates will be able to support all strategic sourcing aspects for these indirect sourcing categories with potential to expand responsibilities to additional indirect categories in the future.

The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated history of quickly building and leveraging relationships in a matrixed environment, work collaboratively to ensure team performance, and successfully influence a variety of stakeholders at all levels

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.


  • Create value across the entire portfolio of ~$500M+

  • Work independently to build strategic relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers

  • Develop and support implementation of sourcing strategies that result in a sustainable competitive advantage

  • Assist in supplier relationship management activities for strategic IT services categories

  • Achieve year on year value improvements for all aspects of service, innovation, and cost

  • Lead and support complete RFx events for IT services

  • Lead and support strategic contract negotiations for large scale engagements with sophisticated IT partners

  • Advise internal stakeholders with a balanced view of contract risk and liabilities and advocate for their interests

  • Gather market intelligence and industry trends

  • Recommend solutions to business problems and identify opportunities for improvement

  • Educate and train stakeholders on key indirect supply management initiatives and policies

  • Bring forth a mindset of continuous improvement

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required and minimum 2 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with 0 years of experience.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills and ability to drive actionable insights from data

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint

  • Indirect sourcing experience (Professional Services, IT, Financial Services, Legal Services, Facilities, etc.) preferred, however will consider the right candidate with only direct materials experience

  • Experience reviewing and drafting legal agreements.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$64,800.00 - $97,200.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
