The Senior Fixed Asset Accountant will process all fixed asset transactions via the Company's BNA fixed asset software including asset additions, transfers, disposals, and retirements. He or she will reconcile the BNA asset registers to the Company's general ledgers and maintain the fixed asset records in accordance with GAAP and the Company's capitalization policy.
Job Responsibilities
Record fixed asset additions, transfers, disposals, and retirements in the BNA fixed asset register for multiple legal entities in accordance with Company policy and GAAP.
Prepare general journal entries to record fixed asset activity in tandem with changes to the BNA asset registers.
Perform monthly, quarterly and annual reconciliation of fixed asset registers including accumulated depreciation with general ledger accounts.
Prepare monthly reports including, but not limited to, fixed asset additions and a roll forward schedule on a stand alone and consolidated basis. Also includes preparing fixed asset additions in a foreign currency and conversion to USD.
Work in tandem with project accountants to tie CIP placed into service into the asset additions for each period.
Carry out periodic physical inventory counts of fixed assets and update asset registers accordingly
Create fixed asset related audit schedules and summary reports
Track fixed asset spending in relation to capital budgets and forecasts
Update fixed asset records when employees transfer assets to a different location or department.
Track/monitor prepayments of fixed assets and assets not in service and ensure proper accounting of both.
Ensure all fixed assets are appropriately tagged and tracked in BNA.
Assist with year-end audit - providing reports, pulling support and providing reconciliations when requested.
Prepare supporting documentation for banks for debt to be secured by fixed assets.
Support the intercompany accounting team with invoicing intercompany capital projects.
Prepare annual elimination calculation and journal entry to eliminate intercompany profit from PP&E.
Periodic and Ad Hoc report preparation.
Assist with special projects, analyses and other inquiries as needed.
Qualifications
BS in accounting or business
Possess strong knowledge of GAAP
Strong proficiency in Excel with solid reconciliation skills
Strong communication and analytical skills
Strong ability to work both individually AND in a team setting
Excellent interpersonal and time management skills to meet time-sensitive deadlines
Strong ability to give attention to detail and to perform multiple tasks at the same time
7+ years of experience with fixed asset accounting
Experience with self-constructed assets and long-term projects resulting in depreciable assets
Experience with streamlining manual processes and working across multiple departments and functions
Experience with BNA fixed asset software or other stand-alone asset software programs preferred
Computer literate, including familiarity with a nationally known ERP system and the Microsoft Office suite of software
