Summary: The laboratory is seeking an individual who is able to work with diverse students, trainees and colleagues, and who has experience working with cell culture and/or animal models for cancer research studies
The primary purpose of this position is in performing techniques to generate data in support of funded projects. The individual will also contribute to day-to-day functions in the lab. The job will focus on studying genetic features of cancer and means to more effectively treat disease.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Maintenance of Mouse Colony: Responsible for animal health checks, shipments, transfers, weaning, recording birth data, and genotyping
• Performs animal experimentation: Including injecting animals, collecting and harvesting various tissues and fluids, performing animal autopsies, performing drug administration by introperitoneal injection or oral gavages
• Performs animal surgeries including subcutaneous, mammary fat pad and pancreatic orthotopic surgeries
• Maintains appropriate documentation related to animal care and procedures in accordance with established IACUC and laboratory policies.
• Operates equipment and instruments such as microscopes, spectrophotometers, centrifuges, pH meters, and other standard laboratory equipment
• Perform in vitro cell culture experiments.
• Performs analysis and calculations, records and writes reports and experimental findings
• Applicant should be able to independently perform literature searches
• Applicant will be expected to present findings of ongoing research at lab meetings and research progress seminars
Salary range is $44,086 - $56,108 which includes a comprehensive benefits package.
Qualifications:Required Education and Experience
1. Master's degree in a science-related field; or
2. Bachelor's degree in a science-related field and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time laboratory experience, including six (6) months experience training or leading subordinate staff or students in the performance of assigned laboratory tasks; or
3. Associate's degree in a science-related field and the equivalent of three (3) years of full-time laboratory experience, including six (6) months experience training or leading subordinate staff or students in the performance of assigned laboratory tasks; or
4. High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma and the equivalent of five (5) years of full-time laboratory experience, including six (6) months experience training or leading subordinate staff or students in the performance of assigned laboratory tasks.
NOTE:
Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited school, college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.
