Role reports to: R&D Claims and Clinical Manager
Location: Skillman, NJ Kenvue's corporate headquarters is currently located in Skillman NJ, but is scheduled to move to Summit, NJ in or around early 2025.
Travel %: 10%
Pay range: $84-135,700k
What you will do
The Senior Scientist will work within the Consumer Science team as part of an end-to-end R&D organization to support the development of products for the Essential Health category. You will be responsible for consumer research to support multiple brands such as AVEENO® BABY, LISTERINE®, JOHNSON'S®, DESITIN®, and BAND-AID® across multiple Essential Health categories such as oral care, wound care, and baby care as well as upstream innovation. You will work to foster a consumer-centric culture within the R&D organization to build deep consumer empathy through effective communication and collaboration with cross-functional partners. In addition to traditional methodologies, you will innovate capabilities using agile digital research tools, data science/advanced analytics, and modeling techniques to meet key project and program objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Apply Design Thinking principles to understand consumer needs, aspirations, and motivations to support end-to-end innovation projects and programs from exploration to validation
Identify and pilot new approaches and methodologies including those that leverage data science, advanced analytics, and AI where appropriate
Design and execute robust Learning Plans in collaboration with key cross-functional partners (Marketing, Insights, Design, and Formulation) to meet project needs and answer key consumer questions
Design and execute exploratory qualitative and quantitative research, product design and optimization research, benchmarking studies, and consumer perceived claims validation studies aligned with project and program objectives
Effectively communicate consumer insights and actionable recommendations to the cross-functional team through use of storytelling and data visualization
Participate in analysis and interpretation of results and communication to project teams
Participate in Global Consumer Science community of practice to support a consumer-centric culture in the R&D organization
Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with high ethical/quality standards and all applicable policies and procedures
What we are looking for
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with at least 3 years, Master's degree with 1-2 years, or PhD degree with 0 years of industry experience in qualitative and quantitative research in Consumer Science, Consumer Technical Insights, Sensory Science, Food Science, Psychology, Consumer Behavior, or Market Research.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a broad range of consumer research including product and concept testing, quant/qual, product benchmarking, and drivers of liking with experience in documenting, visualizing, and interpreting data.
Experience in consumer behavior science and/or data science and use of digital consumer science tools is preferred.
Strong analytical thinking and communication skills; comfortable presenting data and recommendations to key stakeholders
Highly collaborative, able to work closely within Consumer Science and cross-functionally with R&D and other business partners including Design and Insights.
