ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Associate, Entomology is a combination of insectary support and efficacy testing support.

Internal Compensation Grade: Grade E

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Rearing of mosquitoes, house flies, ants, cockroaches, and other household pests

  • Measure, document, and track insectary operational performance

  • Assist the insectary lead in maintaining and enhancing facility operations

  • Assist other staff with preparation and clean-up of efficacy studies and recording data

  • Contribute to projects when appropriate as subject matter expert

  • Provide support for internal and customer entomology education, including tours and demos

  • Maintain and grow knowledge and skills in the field of entomology

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING:


  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate biological science. Some relevant industry experience preferred

  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States

PREFERRED EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS:


  • Rigorous precision in following standard protocols in adherence with a tightly defined schedule

  • Knowledge and understanding of mosquito, house fly, ant, and cockroach biology, with emphasis on cockroach and ant responses to baits

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience in working as part of a multi-disciplinary team

  • Experience in the design, planning, and execution of experiments in a lab and field settings

  • Ability to manage multiple activities concurrently

  • Strong initiative and drive for self-development

  • Some knowledge of Good Laboratory Practice, but will train on the job

  • Some knowledge of EPA registration or other regulatory body protocols

  • Ability to travel internationally

  • Ability to lift 10 - 40 pounds
