Job Description

We are looking for a Laboratory Supervisor to join the team at our Immunology laboratory in Elmwood Park, NJ.

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

Position Summary:

The Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for management of daily laboratory operations, environment, and work processes according to standard operating procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Is accessible to testing personnel at all times testing is performed to provide on-site, telephone, or electronic support.


• Provides day-to day supervision of personnel performing high complexity testing.


• Must be on-site to provide direct supervision when high complexity testing is performed by certain individuals.


• Monitors test analyses and specimen examinations to ensure that acceptable levels of analytic performances are maintained.


• Resolving technical problems and ensuring remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory established performance specifications.


• Ensuring patient test results are not reported until corrective action has been taken and test system is functioning properly.


• Providing orientation and training to all testing personnel


• Annually evaluating and documenting the performance of all testing personnel (competency assessment)

Minimum Qualifications

• BS in a life science and or Medical Technology


• Six (6) or more years of work experience in a clinical laboratory as a Medical Lab Technologist or Clinical Lab Scientist


• One (1) or more years of supervisory experience within a laboratory setting


• Experience with QC / QA / Regulatory requirements


• Experience working the bench in all areas of the core lab (Microbiology, Chemistry, Hematology, Blood Bank, etc.)


• Able to perform CBC differentials


• Ability to use sound judgement when making decisions

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in a reference laboratory highly desired


• ASCP certification is a plus


• Experience with Test Validation
