About the Job



Walmart Connect is seeking a Senior Data Science Manager to run inventory forecasting team in either our San Bruno, CA office. We are looking for an individual who will lead our amazing inventory forecasting team and help advance our advertising yield management capabilities and drive efforts on forecasting, various inventory management and monetization initiatives. Responsible for looking for new and creative ways to maximize revenue of our ad products across all WMC's Display, Search, and In-stores offerings.



Responsibilities:



  • Provide vision, leadership, manage and run the inventory forecasting sub team within yield analytics

  • Lead the efforts on inventory forecasting, developing time series forecasting models to provide visibility of future available inventory that highlights inventory risks easily. Advance our advertising yield management capabilities with accurate and granular forecasts to further guide pricing, packaging, sales strategy, operational planning and optimizing our advertising yield.

  • Partner closely with Finance, Sales Center of Excellence, Revenue Operations, Business Operations, Product and Sales to constantly assess our supply and identify inventory risks. Build productive and positive relationships across the organization at all levels to drive influence

  • Establish team goals and visions and work with direct reports to execute, measure progress, and share results.

  • Recruit, develop, mentor, and inspire a high-performance team. Provide mentorship, guidance, and career development to a team of inventory forecasting data scientists.




Requirements



  • Master's degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Statistics, Operations Research, Economics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics) or equivalent practical experience.

  • 4+ years of quantitative or data science working experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, manage, lead, and mentor a high-performance team with minimum 2 years of data scientists management experience.

  • Online advertising industry working experience preferred with an understanding of advertising KPIs and inventory management

  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, manage, lead, and mentor a high-performance team

  • Fluency in the language of digital media and online measurement: impressions, CTR, CPMs, STR, Fill rates, unique users, page views, visits, viewability, demo comps, etc.

  • Strong business communication skills, both written and verbal; with ability to communicate / present to Sales teams, also ability to express complex technical topics clearly & easily.

  • Proficiency in common machine learning techniques and forecasting models especially time series forecasting and has strong understanding of probability and statistical models.

  • Proficient in data science programming languages (Python or R), and experience with SQL and relational databases (for example Hive, Big Query).

  • Ability to thrive in ambiguity and often lack of clarity, demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects and tight deadlines.

The annual salary range for this position is $160,000.00-$230,000.00


Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives.


Additional compensation for certain positions may also include:


- Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location)


- Stock equity incentives
