Assists Principal Investigator with laboratory, greenhouse and field research. Coordinates and carries out laboratory, greenhouse, and field experiments. Ensures policies and procedures are in place and followed. Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
70% - Essential - Research support: Assists with set up and maintenance of postharvest experiments with minimal assistance. Assists with set up and execution of laboratory experiments with minimal assistance. Assists with set up and maintenance of growth chamber and greenhouse experiments with minimal assistance. Collects samples. Collects and enters data. Maintains clean and orderly work areas. Graduate student technical support.
10% - Essential - Strategic planning: Follows schedules for activities and projects. Sets priorities in order to avoid backlog. Sets short-term goals to support long-range plans.
10% - Essential - Administrative support: Assists with ordering laboratory, greenhouse, field supplies and equipment. Submits paperwork required for ordering.
10% - Essential - Safety management: Follows all required safety protocols. Checks lab safety maintenance records. Assists with maintaining up-to-date chemical inventories. Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education - Bachelor's degree in animal husbandry, agriculture or a related field and work experience that is directly related to the area of employment.
Licenses - Drivers License Class D normal
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelors degree in biology, plant sciences, food science or related field.
2 years relevant experience. Experience with instruments and techniques is preferred.
