SUMMARY:
The person in this position manages all accounting and purchasing functions related to capital projects and assists in preparation of monthly management reports and accompanying schedules, worksheets, and narratives, including budget-versus-actual variance reports.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop a working knowledge of rebillable projects and monitor compliance throughout the contract period; rebillable projects include Section 130 crossing funding, customer-funded grant projects, and claim-related reimbursements.


• Communicate with operations, funding agencies, insurance companies, vendors, legal and other departments as needed to accurately prepare invoices for timely reimbursement


• Setup, manage, and maintain projects in the accounting system, and generate reports from accounting records


• Accurate and timely billing of project invoices


• Act as a liaison with Accounts Payable to research discrepancies in invoices and purchase orders with vendors


• Coordinate billings on projects assigned to outside consultant to manage


• Prepare monthly accruals for outstanding projects


• Track unbilled expenses on projects to include researching purchase order discrepancies and timely invoice processing.


• Reconcile applicable GL accounts monthly


• Facilitate collections of rebillable invoices.

Assist with other projects and perform other duties as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
• Thorough understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
• Strong analytical, accounting, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to effectively handle multiple projects at once
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to communicate and present information to senior management
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and accounting software programs

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR CREDENTIALS:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
• At least three years of work experience or equivalent training
