JOB Summary 


As a Full Stack Engineer, you'll apply your problem-solving skills to get Combined’s portals and mobile apps to our customers enabling them to submit claims and manage their policies. You will collaborate with our sales agents to give them quick access to critical policy holder information wherever and whenever they need it. You will establish strong, long-term relationships with our stakeholders (Operations, Claims, Legal/Compliance, Marketing teams), communicating with them as they troubleshoot, and upgrade our software. You'll work with our customers, technical teams at Chubb, and other insurance software vendors to build technical solutions to enable cutting-edge tools to drive Combined’s business goals forward, making recommendations for best practices that will ensure their long-term success.


The position will act as the primary liaison between IT offshore developers and business for projects related to Web/Digital development.   This individual works with the Application Manager and will provide day to day support for a portfolio of digital and web applications.  As the Web IT Engineer, this team member will support and advise on the code development of DevOps platforms for applications and will be tasked with making enhancements on the web applications. Stack includes Java applications as well as .Net and hence this individual needs to be relatively comfortable on both platforms. An understanding of customer business requirements and integrating the application performance improvements will be paramount. The professional individual should be proficient in at least one programming language, such as Java, .NET, PHP, Python in order to work effectively with other teams inside the organization. Additionally, the Lead DevOps Engineer must be familiar with Azure and Kubernetes, as well as the proper use of development tools such as GitHub and dependency management.


Responsibilities 



  • Act as development lead for a portfolio of applications including our Customer and Agent Self Service Portals

  • Act as primary liaison with an on-shore and off-shore outsourced development Team

  • Interact with production support personnel to ensure that critical and major production issues are resolved in a timely manner

  • Act as lead in problem resolution discussions

  • Proactively manage issues/risks and escalate them as needed

  • Provide periodic status reports on projects

  • Maintain a high level of personal commitment and accountability to the business, and a focus on quality and service

  • Interact with the business through requirements analysis and design sessions

  • Work with IT Management to determine priorities and resolve issues

  • Participate in internal design and code review processes to ensure that solutions effectively meet business objectives while also following enterprise architecture standards

Skills



  • Full stack developer with experience in complete software life cycle involving both front-end and backend

  • Experience with MVC, Web API, Angular, Microsoft. Net and SQL server

  • Proficient with JIRA, and DevOps tools

  • Experience with Web/Digital development

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Strong relationship management, negotiation, and decision-making skills

  • Good facilitation skills

  • Good knowledge of systems development methodologies and project life cycles

  • Experience with Agile development methodology

  • Ability to effectively work with users of various levels from clerical to senior management


Education and Experience 



  • Experience with life and health insurance administration system processes

  • Experience supporting Self Service sites

  • ITIL, Microsoft certifications

  • Experience working in an outsourced environment coordinating development and testing activities with an offshore team

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related field.  Or, equivalent work experience, including 3-5 years of working in an Information Technology job managing project delivery and/or application development teams.
