Description


Under the direction of the Corporate Relations Executive, leads corporate giving & contributions, sponsorship fulfillment, select programs and corporate activities designed to enhance Independence’s role as a leading business and corporate citizen. 


Works collaboratively with various levels of the organization, from front-line associates to senior leadership to plan and implement initiatives while positioning Independence as a corporate leader in the community, engaging our associates, nonprofit partners, community stakeholders and customers. Partners with numerous business areas including Corporate Communications, Sales, Marketing, Human Resources, Associate Communications, and Finance, to fulfill sponsor benefits, ensure proper representation for the Company, and promote the Independence brand, ensuring program activities meet or exceed corporate expectations, and align to our mission, vision, and values.


Accountable for managing and tracking corporate contribution requests.  Responsibilities include oversight of nonprofit partner relationships, project management, corporate sponsorship fulfillment, activities, and select programs. These activities are directed at but not limited to, nonprofit organizations, community and civic based organizations, government agencies and customer/potential customers. They will provide strategic and operational support to the Corporate Relations Executive.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


Corporate Giving:


·       Manage and track corporate contribution requests from proposal receipt through closure. 


o   On average, oversight of $500,000 in contributions per month.


·       Oversee corporate contributions annual budget. Average annual budget of $17M.


·       Review corporate contribution requests and evaluate value to Independence and alignment with corporate giving focus areas and strategy: Civic & Community Leadership, Healthcare, Wellness, Social & Health Equity.


·       Support and provide recommendations for the Corporate Relations Executive’s evaluation of each contribution request by providing relevant background, history, and value to Independence and the community.


o   Understands business relationships relating to key stakeholders, Independence board members, providers, and customers to assess requests and make informed decisions.


·       Proposes and develops new ideas for nonprofit partnerships.


·       Serves as a project manager for fundraising efforts for Company sponsored programs and events.


·       Represents Independence Corporate Relations team on internal and external workgroup/committees.


Sponsorship Fulfillment


·       Oversee sponsorship benefits and deliverables for each contribution request, including advertisements, speaking engagements, social media engagement, attendance.


·       Serves as the main point of contact for nonprofit partners and organizations for sponsorship coordination.


·       Work collaboratively with Corporate Communications, Sales, Creative and Marketing departments to fulfill sponsor opportunities. Communicate deliverables and timelines to ensure deadlines are successfully met.


·       Offer recommendations on sponsorship messaging and engagement.


·       Coordinate speaking engagement opportunities to ensure executive presence and exposure at corporate sponsored programs and events.


·       Works across business areas and all levels of leadership to increase sponsor engagement.


Event Coordination & Outreach:


·       Develops and maintains upcoming events calendar for approximately 500+ annual events detailing event information, ticket assignments, honoree(s), safety & health protocols, advertisement requests, speaking requests, and auction/giveaway items.


·       Strategically solicit and coordinate attendance for company-sponsored events to Officers, Directors, Sales and internal Associate Resource Groups to ensure Independence has proper representation at community events and capitalizes on business development, networking, and branding opportunities.


·       Circulate invitations to events, keep track of responses, and send emails confirming attendees in a timely fashion for corporate sponsored events.


·       Plan, coordinate and manage the implementation of IBC-sponsored internal and external social and business entertainment functions at various venues and company signature events as needed.  Facilitate and oversee event logistics as needed.


·       Responsible to manage and execute select programs that support the company’s vision.


Community Engagement:


·       Act as a good will ambassador for Independence and represent Independence well professionally internally and externally. 


·       Develops and maintain strong working relationships with Independence colleagues, local community and civic groups, nonprofit partners, funding recipients, political officials/organizations to enhance the company’s reputation.


Advertisements & Marketing Collateral:


·       Facilitate advertisements and event collateral in conjunction with internal creative service teams and external stakeholders to assure brand integrity for nonprofit partner events and customer events.


·       Coordinate marketing materials & invitations for special events (i.e. signage, invitations, gift tags, etc.)


Reporting:


·       Maintain historical record of Independence corporate contributions activity and requests by accurately entering and maintaining required information in the grants reporting tracking system and active internal budgeting records.


·       Maintains YourCause database to ensure accurate and up-to-date information by responding to all requests, track funding decisions, and analyze data patterns. 


·       Produce ad hoc reports as needed, including corporate giving budget & analysis and monthly status update for CEO.


·       Evaluates budget monthly to ensure distribution to four corporate giving focus areas.

·       Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent


·       Minimum of 5-7+ years in progressive experience in managing corporate events and other public affairs matters for a large-scale corporation preferred. 


·       Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate within and outside the organization. 


·       Demonstrated ability to work effectively with contacts at all levels, including corporate leaders, vendors, and suppliers in a flexible and professional manner. 


·       Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment requiring attention to detail and complete accuracy. 


·       Must have sound judgment, high energy, and ability to effectively handle multiple priorities, be extremely organized, manage time effectively and identify resources for projects.
