Task Description: Aircraft Mechanic II (23022):  

Aircraft Mechanics II must have a combination of experience to repair engines, sheet metal, and structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty, required to meet the assigned missions. Additionally provides input to Maintenance Engineering Changes (MEC), Estimated Cost of Damage preparation (ECOD) and assist in the recommendation of changes to (MWO). Individuals must be able to prioritize workloads and are required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks. Mechanic IIs can inspect Mechanic IIs and Is. This mechanic maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty, maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components, applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies required expertise in restoring equipment condition and or operation, and applies comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints or manufactures’ manuals. Must have a thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of parts, requires broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair, must have basic knowledge of electrical theory, must have thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers. This job requires working knowledge of technical publications. The incumbent receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician, will occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks, and may be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records. Must be able to prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects. May require specialization in sheet-metal, electric work, avionics or other aircraft systems related disciplines.

Aircraft Engine Mechanic II troubleshoots, modifies, repairs, and performs sequential disassembly and assembly of the F100-PW-100/200/220/229 series engines and also performs scheduled and unscheduled engine inspections IAW applicable Technical Data. Performs command directed and locally established in-process inspections (IPI) of propulsion system components. Certifies completeion of all work accomplished. critical engine build measurements. Analyzes malfunctions using schematic and wiring diagrams, blueprints, manufacturer's specifications, computer diagnostics data, inspection findings and trending data (CETADS) and aircrew debriefs. Performs and assists with test cell operation of uninstalled engines and makes final adjustments and verifies that engine is operating within acceptable parameters for safe operation. Performs scheduled and unscheduled inspections, maintenance and documentation on Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE) related to suported aircraft engines IAW applicable Technical Data. 

 

Task Requirements:


  • Performs aircraft maintenance functions of the Corrosion Control. 

  • Performs inspection, disassembly, repair, servicing, TD compliance, modification, assembly, surface finish removal, corrosion control, preservation/de-preservation services

  • Aircraft maintenance action documentation via logs, records, forms, and electronic means

  • Troubleshoot malfunctions.

  • Use hand tools, power tools, machines, specific and general aviation test measurement and diagnostic equipment, and sets kits and outfits (SKO).

  • Read and interpret manufacturers' maintenance manuals, military technical manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, blueprints, manufacturers’ drawings, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components

  • Perform general housekeeping and organization of workstation(s), shop(s), maintenance facility to provide a clean, safe, and FOD free environment

  • Perform shift work and/or overtime as required

  • Other duties and task as assigned.

 

Preferred Personnel Qualifications:


  • 10 years or more of Organizational, Intermediate and/or Depot level maintenance

 

Basic Personnel Qualifications:


  • Attended Aviation Powerplant School or equivalent.

  • Five years experience in aviation powerplant maintenance

  • Must meet security requirements for installation, facility and network access

  • Must qualify for and shall possess a Common Access Card (CAC)

  • Must be able to climb ladders and raised platforms

  • Must be able to use hand and power tools

  • Must have dexterity to handle small parts

 

Compensation

$39.44/hour

Other Compensation

Employees receive a health and welfare benefit of $3.65 per hour paid up to 40 hours per week.

Employees are able to enroll in KAI’s 401k plan and the Company will contribute $.35 per hour paid up to 40 hours a week to the employee’s account.  Employees receive 11 days PTO on their anniversary date. KAI employees at NAS JRB New Orleans have 11 paid holidays.

Employment is contingent on (a) your ability to provide appropriate proof of your identity and eligibility to work in the United States; (b) your references and any background check being satisfactory to the Company; (c) you successfully passing a pre-employment drug test; and (d) your ability to get a required clearance by your effective start date, if needed; and (e) KAI commencing performance on this contract.
